A Case Of Scientific Misdiagnosis

“The cause of Tourette’s is unknown. However, it is believed there’s abnormal communication to an area in the brain that filters thoughts. Some of them triggered, some completely random.”

-Quote from the video clip ‘Just a Tic’

Seeing that Tourette’s makes people hurl insults and curse at people apart from their control is telling that this is in fact, demonic possession but rather explained by the world as a chemical imbalance in the brain. Doctors admit its occurrence is “unexplained” and people easily believe them. What is most interesting is that most of the afflicted say and do only bad things. Should someone mention it is demonic possession, most people would easily laugh it off and dismiss the notion coupled with words, “You are out of your mind.” What the world can gather to explain it in the natural will come up as a misdiagnosis since it refuses to recognize the spiritual cause. While not all affliction comes from the enemy, you can line up the symptoms of Tourette’s with God’s Word as you’d line it up to a medical book.

How can we tell the difference between the human tendency (from the flesh, the overflow of what’s in the heart – Matthew 12:34) to curse, apart from the sinister cause of Tourette’s? This part is voluntary. You can choose to curse or not to.

You’d have to see the video to decide for yourselves. Pay close attention to the utterances. One case is so blatant she walks about hailing the adversary without her control. It would give you a clue as to what and who is really behind it.

Seeing yet another video clip of a girl from Australia suffering from Tourette’s Syndrome, what immediately came to mind was the biblical account of Jesus healing a demon-possessed boy. You can see the girl’s own personality come out when she apologizes to her mother for slapping her and cursing at her just after the involuntary and uncontrollable tics occur. The afflicted girl explains, “It causes you to do sudden movements or yell out things that you can’t have-no control over it. – I hate hitting my mom. I hate hitting everybody. If I had one wish, I would take that away.”

In this particular case, it also showed the girl’s house and its walls destroyed. As I continued to watch, another passage to mind, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy.” (John 10:10) These entities afflict children and adults alike, take control of their bodies and make them punch themselves and throw themselves against the wall and the result is destruction. The involuntary sensation is the telling part that it comes from a will that holds the sufferer hostage to do whatever it wants.

Jesus Heals a Demon-Possessed Boy

The next day, when they came down from the mountain, a large crowd met him. 38 A man in the crowd called out, “Teacher, I beg you to look at my son, for he is my only child. 39 A spirit seizes him and he suddenly screams; it throws him into convulsions so that he foams at the mouth. It scarcely ever leaves him and is destroying him. 40 I begged your disciples to drive it out, but they could not.”
41 “You unbelieving and perverse generation,” Jesus replied, “how long shall I stay with you and put up with you? Bring your son here.”
42 Even while the boy was coming, the demon threw him to the ground in a convulsion. But Jesus rebuked the impure spirit, healed the boy and gave him back to his father. 43 And they were all amazed at the greatness of God.

Luke 9:37-43

A man in the crowd answered, “Teacher, I brought you my son, who is possessed by a spirit that has robbed him of speech. 18 Whenever it seizes him, it throws him to the ground. He foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth and becomes rigid. I asked your disciples to drive out the spirit, but they could not.”

19 “You unbelieving generation,” Jesus replied, “how long shall I stay with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring the boy to me.”

20 So they brought him. When the spirit saw Jesus, it immediately threw the boy into a convulsion. He fell to the ground and rolled around, foaming at the mouth.

21 Jesus asked the boy’s father, “How long has he been like this?”

“From childhood,” he answered. 22 “It has often thrown him into fire or water to kill him. But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us.”

23 “‘If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.”

24 Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!”

25 When Jesus saw that a crowd was running to the scene, he rebuked the impure spirit. “You deaf and mute spirit,” he said, “I command you, come out of him and never enter him again.”

26 The spirit shrieked, convulsed him violently and came out. The boy looked so much like a corpse that many said, “He’s dead.” 27 But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him to his feet, and he stood up.

28 After Jesus had gone indoors, his disciples asked him privately, “Why couldn’t we drive it out?”

29 He replied, “This kind can come out only by prayer.”

Mark 9:17-29

Considering an Exorcism? Don’t go to a Catholic Exorcist or any occultist. Jesus is the only answer.

If you or someone you know is suffering from Tourette’s Syndrome, consider Jesus’ invitation,

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

Matthew 11:28
