Is there anything not made in China?

Filed under: Feelings — coeli @ 9:02 pm

And today is the day to break the ice from my hiatus.

I rejoiced in the fact that I bought an item which did not say Made in China. I honestly thought P.R.C meant Puerto Rico Commonwealth, lol, I know, I suppose that would make me a retard for wishful thinking that. Out of curiosity, I looked up what country P.R.C was and was completely dismayed that People’s Republic of China escaped my mind and I was like… WHAAAAAAT? Since when has China imprinted those on the products? Maybe awhile now but this was my first encounter.

I suppose China is trying to conceal the fact that the product was made there. For some obvious reasons, when people see a “Made in China” label on a product, it is associated with the stigma of cheapness and far less meeting most people’s standards for quality and durability. “What do you expect? It’s made in China” and “You get what you pay for.”

I think I am beginning to think and sound like my mother now.

I see ABC News is trying to urge people in buying anything Made in America, and I am not quite there yet but I am starting by trying to buy things that are not made in China.

I suppose the chase for a seemingly good deal albeit a short lived and enjoyed only until it lasts product cannot be stripped away from every consumer. We all just want to stretch our dollars. Who can blame anyone? China is just too strategic to capitalize on this and mass producing replicas and products so cheap it is just too hard to resist.

Anyway, yes, there are a lot of things not made in China and I am proud to say I make yarn dolls in which I can proudly say “MADE IN THE USA” although, I am not quite sure if the yarn I use came from China :X

How sad is that?

One fine day

Filed under: Fotos — coeli @ 5:29 pm

What better day to take pictures outside. Best of all, I didn’t have to go far but simply open the door and walk a few steps.

Kinda dark but I like the shadows.

I like her expression here.

There’s more pictures from this session but I suppose 4 is enough.

She was actually quite cooperative. I could get her to pose for me more than I could my 9 yr old son.

Cupcake Minis

Filed under: Food — coeli @ 10:52 pm

There was something good that came out of Black Friday after all and it is the mini cupcake maker I bought for $10. Can you believe that? I always baked regular cupcakes and never got around to buying the mini cupcake baking pan so I found the opportunity to buy the mini cupcake maker instead.

I’m no Martha Stewart and I’m far from it but I thought I’d give my two cents about this product. I am impressed by the quality of the cupcakes it makes and most of all, this appliance is so small it hardly takes up space on my kitchen counter, not to mention it bakes a 7 piece batch within less than 10 minutes.

I went to the store pretty late so I just grabbed a 12-cupcake mix to see what this little baby can do. It made about 5 batches which is about 35 mini cupcakes and my daughter couldn’t stop eating. My son was showing me how he could down one cupcake in one bite. Lol. It’s funny.

Here they are. I think they came out pretty good.

This will be a handy gadget for a little pick-me-up during the day with a demitasse.

I am glad I discovered this little thing at such a time as Black Friday. Yeah, I know, I wouldn’t normally have bought it but who could pass up such a great deal?

What did you end up getting for Black Friday?

Amigurumi craze

Filed under: Fancies — coeli @ 9:50 pm

In case you’re wondering my days, if not season of inactivity here, it’s due to Amigurumis. So far, it has taken me a day to make my first one which I call Fifi (The Frenchy or should I say Beatnik girl) and I am still working on the other one I call China Red Riding Hood (lol).

Here’s a sneak peak… I know I should have waited to post until the second one is done but I couldn’t resist .

This will truly be a short one.

Will post another pic of the finished product ;)

Can you believe tomorrow is already Friday? Time is truly just a vapor.

Yarn over here and yarn over there

Filed under: Fancies — coeli @ 11:57 pm

When I get really busy, I get the habit of completely neglecting to write. I suppose I can’t call myself a true blogger when I miss days, not only a few but to the extent of weeks. You see, I have engaged myself in a knitting marathon. I have finished 3 hats and 3 scarves so far and I am finishing off my fourth scarf.

I have also delved into making Amigurumi on the side. I never would have thought of learning how to crochet. I knew the crochet basics, chain stitch and single crochet but it took me a good 2 hours to learn a crochet magic loop via youtube, I know, it’s pretty slow but it took me a non English-speaking italian tutorial to finally get it. Once I learned that, everything else came to place.

I have just started to make a head of my custom Amigurumi girl character and I am so excited that I have picked up crocheting without a live instructor, I mean in person, but youtube.

This is my first tackle with a crochet Amigurumi. I am far from being done. I am not following any pattern but I am in the process of designing the character’s look as I go along.

It’s amazing all the information and know how people can acquire through youtube. I am quite thankful to those who readily make tutorials available at no cost (well it’s actually good for them since the more views they have, the more revenue they make if they have enabled that youtube feature.)

Aside from youtube tutorials, I did go to the library to borrow a couple of books for inspiration and to learn the basics of Amigurumi. Aren’t those characters too cute?

I hope to complete my first Amigurumi soon.

Regressing to a low MP Camera

Filed under: Fotos — coeli @ 9:11 pm

I am quite disappointed with the hampered capability of my own bridge camera which supposedly has 14 megapixels that I have regressed to my husband’s 5 megapixel Nikon Coolpix for taking pictures. I suppose the brand has a lot to do with it. I have been trying to achieve bokeh with my camera and from all my attempts, I think I only achieved it once. Anyways, below are the pictures of the day.  Since I’m on the camera, I am nowhere to be found in any of the pics. I suppose I probably like it better that way. Having a few extra pounds, I’ve been kind of camera shy lately.

I actually like that she was looking at her dad when I took the picture. It kinda adds character to it. :)

This thing on the other hand couldn’t decide which face to make.

“That’s right baby, you got my number” look. Lol

And this one had no idea. It looks as if he’s thinking something.

Just a gander of a day in the life of ma famille.

Have a great eventful weekend!

My birthday

Filed under: Fête — coeli @ 6:58 pm

Today is my 32nd birthday. Not much on the menu but lasagna and buffalo wings. For 2 adults and 2 kids, it’s more than enough. I skipped the birthday cake but baked a batch of marble cupcakes. Most of them were unfrosted except for one that I dressed up with a little Happy Birthday sign for pictorial purposes. I still feel pretty much like a kid trapped in a mommy body so yes, to me, age is but a number.

Birthday cupcake

Happy Birthday to me!

Welch's Sparkling Juice Cocktail

Our favorite birthday libation. I would have wanted real wine but my husband does not drink anything with alcoholic content so I did not want to trip him up :P

So, this will be a short one. I made one heck of a mess on one of our closets and I have to go clear up the ruckus I made in the hallway. Ta ta and Godspeed :P

When things get lost in the mail

Filed under: Feelings — coeli @ 9:23 pm

I was expecting a package and the tracking number says it’s been delivered last Friday AND I DON’T HAVE IT! I am feeling absolutely mad and frustrated and I just don’t know who to direct my frustration to when it comes to something like this. Could it be the sender failing to put the correct address? Could it be the mailman putting it in the wrong box? I really don’t know.

That was about 2 hours ago and here I am chronicling what I feel. I was trying to find an emoticon of what I’m feeling and I couldn’t use some of the ones I found because of copyright watermarks so I took to photoshop and made my own.

frustrated emoticon

Here you go. Trust me, I think you’d rather see this than a picture of myself actually feeling like this. Somehow, emoticons have the air of cuteness to it as opposed to an actual picture of a person being mad and frustrated.

I suppose I’ll either call or take a trip to my local Post Office tomorrow. This is the first time this happened to me and it truly is just frustrating.

P.S. If anyone out there wants to reuse this mad/frustrated spur of the moment emoticon for whatever purpose, go ahead, you have my blessing.

Sunday Sloth

Filed under: Feelings — coeli @ 7:07 pm

Yesterday was an eventful day but today is a completely different story. We headed to church, went to Sam’s Club and came home. Several hours later, the air of slothfulness enveloped me and I was completely taken. I honestly wish I could just feel lazy at times and it would be perfectly okay but not so when my family depends on me for dinner, dishes, laundry etc. Don’t get me wrong, I love cooking for my family but today is just one of those days when I completely wanted to do absolutely nothing.

Luckily, prior to the air of slothfulness hitting me, I managed to thaw the chicken breast for the Ranch chicken that my family just can’t get enough of. I prepared the dinner kicking and screaming, well not literally but you get the picture. I don’t know why but I am just emotionally out of sorts today. There’s an air of negativity that hovers over me and it’s the kind that tries to bring my countenance down as best as it possibly could but it’s really my call. It’s the struggle of the flesh. Who wants to constantly feel just out of wack? Certainly not I!

As the dinner was cooking, the slothful feeling had left me. It must have been that I just wanted to go to a fast food drive-thru and take the easy way but I am glad I stuck it out. Everyone seemed to have really enjoyed the food and I must admit, it has less fat, waaaay less fat than your McD’s McDouble and french fries.

I am truly yet to acquire an all out servant spirit, you know, become the type who never gets lazy at all. My mother is like that. She always seems to want to do something. I wish I had the luxury of having someone do chores, laundry and cook for me as when I was a kid (I came from a place where it was sort of necessary to have hired help in a household) but even when I was afforded that the last time I went for a visit, I demanded them not to wash my clothes and that I would have to do it myself to ensure proper washing (not have my colored clothes bleached out or T-shirt collars all wringed out beyond recognition), but other than that, believe it or not, I am used to doing things without a hired help.

Now, I just need to limit my bout with laziness. It’s just a no can do for any housewife. :)

Recreational therapy

Filed under: Family — coeli @ 8:22 pm

Today was a fun family day, laid back, and just plain fun. We went to Westfield to get a few items. I have extreme dislike on how malls get uber packed during the weekends but that’s just the way it is and I can live with that. I went to my go to store as usual and they happened to carry stuff I was actually eyeing from the website on that particular location  so it was even better. I had to use my store credit from yesterday ASAP since I didn’t bother to ask the cashier when the redeem by date was and the last thing I want is for it to expire on me. You can hear an overtone of my frugal nature here. At this day and age, penny pinching may actually be a good thing.

On our way home, we dropped by the park to play some badminton for a good hour. We really only intended to play for 20 minutes since it was getting late, around 6 PM and it was cloudy so it seemed much darker than usual but the weather was just so perfect to play, mid 70’s, sans the sun, bright enough but not too bright and it wasn’t too windy either, just perfect. My husband and I both found out we are truly out of shape because halfway of play, we found ourselves panting and working up a sweat just moving moderately hitting the shuttlecock back and forth but we stuck it out to a full hour and we resolved to play badminton more often when the weather permits. It gets brutally hot during the day and when it isn’t hot, it’s just too windy or actually raining.

We decided to skip dinner (even better for me since I didn’t have to cook! Lol) because I bought a variety of junk food for the family to enjoy. I know, it sounds bad but rest assured, we don’t eat chips all the time. I had barbecue flavored Chicharones (pork skins YUM!) , Funyuns for Seth, Cheetos Puffs for Chloe and Doritos Nachos for Alex. Believe it or not, all that junk actually filled us up we completely had no appetite for dinner anymore. This was all before we played badminton and yes, maybe our being out of shape can be attributed to eating the junk food (chips and soda prior to playing), although me and my husband still had our usual Demitasse with a Hershey’s Cookies and Creme bar when we got home.

It’s days like this that makes me so grateful to God that he has given me a family. It’s really the simple things in life that are truly priceless and we only have a small window of time to make these memories. Shop with your family, eat junk food together, go for an aimless drive, play sports… I can only hope that these trivial family time gets ingrained in my children’s memory as happy times. Before we know it, the kids would want to do their own thing rather than do stuff with the whole family.

Friday Faves: Neutrals

Filed under: Friday Faves — coeli @ 11:10 pm

I went to return something to a clothing store today which only gives store credit for refunds. After a good 15 minutes of walking around the clearance section and the newly arrived section, I couldn’t get myself to find something I really liked. So, I went home and checked out the website for merchandise but even doing so, I still couldn’t find something I liked. It’s weird. I mean, usually, the store deals of Buy 1 get one Free usually suckers consumers but I guess for today, I’m an exception.

I am not going for 5 favorite things today. I really can’t think of 1 more. The main theme is neutrals. Most of the bags on my wish list are neutral colored bags. I don’t really care much for shoes at the moment that’s why there’s only one on my list.

Enough jibba jabber. Let me get to the list.

A structured satchel in beige. Sturdy enough to carry a netbook yet not look completely like a computer bag.

A Taupe colored satchel

A Chocolate colored satchel

And lastly, a pair of scrunched ballet flats with a dainty flower accent

If you noticed, every bag on the list is a satchel. I just prefer the carry on style over shoulder bags. I can’t explain why.

So there you have it. I don’t have to have it. Heck I don’t REALLY need it. But what’s so wrong about making a wish list?

Have a great weekend y’all!

Autumn To Do List: 1 down, 3 to go

Filed under: Fancies — coeli @ 6:23 pm

I saw this beanie from ASOS and thought that it would be much better if I made it myself rather than buy it. I went and bought the materials at Joann’s and Michael’s and several coupons later, I got my materials down to less than 8 bucks which included 2 skeins of yarn and 1 circular needle. Luckily, I already owned a tapestry needle for weaving, I really don’t remember buying it, and I substituted the stitch markers with the small rubber bands that I use for Chloe’s hair. How’s that for improvisation?

I haven’t been blogging for days now because I have been so busy knitting the hat. Can you believe that? Of course, I didn’t knit every hour by the hour but I took sooooooooooooooo long to finish this particular beanie because it is my very first time knitting in the round (using a circular knitting needle). I have made hats before in less than 2 hours with the regular knitting sticks but haven’t considered circular knitting until recently. I suppose I wanted the challenge. Aside from being a “virgin” circular knitter, I am also new to the seed stitch pattern which I found was quite easy once you get the hang of alternating and I had to really pay attention to the alternation of the knit and purl stitch.

I had this picture on my Autumn is here entry but felt the need to move it here for the comparison to my handmade version.

Red Heart Super Saver in Buff and Vanna’s Choice in Rust with a Size 10 circular needle I used for my project. It is made with rib stitch brim and seed stitch for the rest. I casted on 80 stitches since I used a large needle.

Et Voilà! My model with the finished product. This is an adult sized hat… and I know, I’m bad for letting her wear my wig with the hat :P

Here’s me with the beanie on

All in all, I am very content with the results. I tried to replicate the hat as much as I could but my version has a smaller pompom and different weight of yarn. It took me a good few days to finish this as I had to unravel it a whole bunch of times because of mistakes but it was well worth it.

I am still battling which To Do item I want to accomplish next…

Worldly Legacy or Eternity?

Filed under: Faith — coeli @ 9:20 pm

Which one would you pick? This is quite a tough one granted that worldly legacy is what most mortals think is the pinnacle of one’s existence. Steve Jobs has passed away and his Apple legacy will always remain. My first computer was a Mac circa 1994 and although I wasn’t too concerned about the guy behind the gadget, I benefited from his genius.

I could only hope that the man somehow thought about where he would spend eternity. See, the thing is, Steve Jobs had brains (this would seem like an understatement), fame and  fortune but sad to say, his lifespan is cut off much shorter than a mortal would hope to have lived.  This life is just so temporal and so easily ended. We don’t really know how long we would live in this corruptible body so why wouldn’t we rather invest in an incorruptible one?

The sad thing is, since the incorruptible body is intangible, most people don’t bother to believe that truly, there is life after this transient existence. People want to see things to believe but what most people fail to see is that some things unseen remain to exist and their unbelief does not detract from the fact that it truly is.

I always have enjoyed conversations of religious nature as some would rather prefer to say philosophical. Are you an atheist? Are you a disillusioned believer of something higher than yourself? If you are one or both, know that your very existence depends upon a sovereign God who exists even without your acknowledgment. If you claim that you are the God within yourself, then why in the world do you still experience things that are beyond your control? Didn’t you just say you were God?

Most of the intellectuals who claim to know all and are arrogant to say that God is a delusion with the likes of Richard Dawkins is just too blind to see that the assertion of such things just makes for an ungrateful fool who credits the majesty of everything around us to mere chance and not of Divine Design.

Anyway, it appears I have deviated from my main question… Would you choose worldly legacy or eternity? There is no wrong answer, but then you can choose both. You could do great things (which some people might not consider as great, but so what?) and yet also choose eternity by living your life surrendered to God’s will.

Fabulous finds at Forever 21

Should I say I wish I were Forever 31? LOL. I’ll be hitting 32 in 16 days if God permits. I’m not ashamed to say I still shop at Forever 21 but I am quite selective with the pieces I get from there. What I like about that store is that some of their pieces have a vintage/retro feel with a contemporary twist and the affordability of their items can’t be beat. I have bought some items there which sad to say the quality matched the price. Yeah, it’s true we always get what we pay for but it’s not too big of a deal if we’re talking about crew neck tees made with soft jersey that just doesn’t stand the test of time and they end up as housewear instead.

Now, about the frugalicious finds… I was in the market for a brown coat but found a Camel colored coat instead. This would be my second one in this color although the styles are completely different. The other one I have is a swing coat while the new find is quite tailored and form fitting.

Camel Coat

Why am I such a sucker for vintage feel pieces? I really would love to know.

And who doesn’t want to have a cardigan in every color? So far, I’ve got heather gray, mustard, plum, brown, and black. Who wouldn’t want to have royal blue?

Anyway, I love Forever 21 more than J.Crew, and so what? To me, it’s really not about the price of the clothing that makes it look like a million bucks when worn. It’s color coordinating, accessorizing and making sure everything on the outfit goes well together and most importantly, it’s the person in it using the clothes to express themselves. After all, no one really walks up to you and asks, how much is that thing you’re wearing?

Aaaaah, Autumn is here

Filed under: Fancies — coeli @ 10:25 pm

I came out this morning feeling the Autumn breeze. It is finally okay for me to be wearing coats now, yay! I know, it’s crazy but I am crazy for coats!

So, here are a few things I plan on doing this Autumn.

1) Knit a hat or a scarf (My birthday is right around the corner so I’ll make this a present to myself.)

2) Make a ponte knit dress

3) Organize my closet (Uggh, I truly dread doing this)

4) Read the entire Old Testament (Maybe)

So far, this is all I could think of. I mean, four is not so bad right? Considering that 3 out of four on this list is really time consuming.

The items on the list is not in order, but I see myself leaning towards getting some knitting done.

Tibi, my new inspiration

Filed under: Fancies — coeli @ 7:37 pm

I am seriously beginning to assess my taste in clothing. I don’t know why I gravitate towards things I cannot afford. I haven’t bought them or anything but I use them as inspiration for my sewing projects. I know it’s bad but I have not completed my projected summer projects for myself but I have sewn other spur of the moment projects like a tunic top and 3 leggings for Chloe.

Anyway, back to Tibi and Trina Turk. I am very much inspired by their “About” page, a short summary of how they pursued their love for fashion and art and the conception of their company. I can honestly say I am a would-be frustrated fashion designer. I went to school for fashion marketing/design and could not afford the tuition to see it through. I have regrets dropping from it but I know now that I probably would have ended up defaulting on my student loan (which by the way Sallie Mae granted me without hesitation, thank God for Divine Intervention I didn’t force my way) which would have gotten me in so much trouble. I mean, I can’t imagine owing over 50K in student loans. The school held an essay writing contest to award 2K towards tuition which I happened to have been awarded yet it was brought to nought since I stopped going to school.

It sounds like dashed hopes right? Maybe, but I am not hampered by financial status when it comes to dress construction since I am actually making them, mainly for myself and Chloe. I cannot explain the desire of making clothes and my problem of wanting to redesign RTW to my personal preference. How I wish I had a personal tailor who caters to my every whim. I am trying to become that but I have so much to learn when it comes to sewing.

Rather than going on and on about my hopes, fancies, pursuits and failures (sigh), I want to share which items/ensemble caught my eye today.

I love the pairing of a bold and muted color, the flowy pants, simplicity and everything about this.

Aside from my penchant for camel, this is just a classic cut which never goes out of style. Trends come and go but going back to 60’s fashion is inevitable. I don’t know why fashion had to evolve or should I say de-volve. The fashion clock should have stopped in the 60’s, with the exception of psychedelic prints (Tie dye and flower power but I am not against geometric prints especially if it’s done right).

I will probably construct and replicate these with my own twist of course, and when I do, I’ll post my projects here.

Toodles for now.

Tunic dress top, a replica of one I dearly miss

Filed under: Fashion — coeli @ 4:50 pm

I had a rust orange colored tunic dress top that was really forgiving and it perfectly camouflaged my mommy tummy, and for that, it was my favorite. I used it more as a top than a dress. I did laundry one day and found out a sharp knife-like edge of my short’s hook and eye made several pin holes on my rayon constructed tunic. It was quite devastating since as I mentioned, it was my favorite. I decided to take it apart with the hopes of finding the exact color of fabric and replacing just the part with the holes. I purchased a yard of fabric online and to my dismay, the fabric’s color was completely off from the tunic so I put the hopes of resurrecting my tunic in the back burner.

This was the tunic dress I ruined while I was doing the wash. I should have handwashed it. There is nothing special about the design. I just liked the color, drape and its length.

I happened to go to the Dollar Tree and purchased a couple of 3xl cotton lycra shirts for a buck each which I took apart for fabric to construct an exact pattern replica of the aforementioned tunic. Doing that was what took me the longest. I wanted it to be exactly like the other one except I put my own spin on it by colorblocking. Below is the end result and no, that isn’t a store-bought RTW ;)

The neckline is the same thickness as the original. In this photo, the front and the back neckline overlaps making the front neckline appear thicker than the original. The sleeve opening have colorblock edges. Pardon the bunched up appearance of the sleeve opening. I already wore this tunic prior to taking a picture.

This is the stitching all throughout the dress. I didn’t buy matching thread for this project hence the white stitching although I used royal blue, black, white, and pink serger thread. My serger takes 4 spools, 2 for the needles, 1 for the lower and 1 for the upper looper. Aside from that, I have also used a regular straight/zigzag sewing machine for the top stitch as shown on the black fabric.

I am pretty happy with the end result. This is my first major project using a serger. I am excited to proceed with other projects in which I actually bought pricey fabrics which I have put on hold since I am still a bit intimidated by my serger. I don’t want to end up trashing my fabrics if I mess up, but this one was different. I had the mentality that if I messed up, it didn’t really matter since the fabric cost me only 2 bucks. I’m sure glad it didn’t turn out to be a flop.

I have just discovered that September is National Sewing Month and I suppose this would be my participation and with how the tunic dress project turned out, there will be plenty more if time permits.

The beginning of sorrows, a prophecy unfolding

Filed under: Faith — coeli @ 7:43 pm

Our witnessing of the Blood moon earlier this week has led us to look it up and have found that the Blood moon usually occurs when something is about to happen pertaining to Israel and its people. It was then confirmed by an email we got the next day urging us to pray for Israel and the upcoming United Nations meeting that will be held sometime this month regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Joel 3
The Nations Will Be Judged
1[a]For behold, in those days and at that time,
When I restore the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem,
2 I will gather all the nations
And bring them down to the valley of [b]Jehoshaphat.
Then I will enter into judgment with them there
On behalf of My people and My inheritance, Israel,
Whom they have scattered among the nations;
And they have divided up My land.

Anyway, as we watch current events,  we see the Palestinians push to be recognized as an independent state in the United Nations. That would mean they are looking for autonomy from being under Israel, and therefore divide the land in which God has alloted to the Israelites which in Joel 3:2 will cause judgment against the nations who partake in dividing the land. If you read the Bible, this very event that is about to unfold within this month is one of the indicators that Jesus Christ will return soon. Very soon.

Before I had a real encounter with Jesus Christ, I battled many sleepless nights because I was afraid of death. My fear of death or the unknown goes back to my childhood when I grew up watching the news on TV of war-torn countries and famine in Africa with the stark images of emaciated children ingrained in my head. I also had a phobia of hearing helicopters and airplanes with the thought that there’s war going on. I remember having such interest in end time prophecies at such a tender age. I never understood that.

Are we looking at the fruition of the 7 Year Treaty prophecy? Will they ratify the treaty at the end of this month? If so, that would mean our time here is short. I never would have thought that we would witness such unfolding in our current generation. It is such a joyous thing to look forward to the Lord Jesus Christ’s coming, yet I understand to those who have not resolved to surrender their lives to Jesus Christ, it would indeed be a scary thing. Remember to call on Jesus Christ, your savior, the only one who can save you from your sins…

No amount of good works can save you because as good as you claim to be, Romans 3:23 says all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and will remain tainted with sin. The only thing that can cleanse you of your sins is Jesus Christ’s atonement. Your good works cannot save you. If it were so, you would be your personal savior and will have no need of Jesus Christ to save you. Your eternal destiny awaits on you making the decision to personally profess and ask Jesus to be your savior. Knowing about what Jesus did and personally asking him to be your savior are two different things.

Just say “JESUS CHRIST, PLEASE SAVE ME.” and mean it from the very core of your being. In so doing, you are acknowledging that there is nothing you can do to save yourself and acknowledge His Lordship over you.

It is that simple. By doing so, your fears would dissipate, scales would come off and you can glory in the promise in Revelation 3:10

Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come upon the whole world to test those who live on the earth.

To echo Romans 13:11, salvation  is indeed closer than when we first believed. My heart’s desire is to be deemed worthy to be among those who will not taste death. Imagine that… To be fortunate as those who elude death by means of being raptured is the ultimate gift.

Let us all pray for Israel, and above all, do not forget to resolve to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior if you haven’t done so already.

Missoni frenzy

Filed under: Fashion — coeli @ 1:47 pm

I say, what’s all the frenzy with Missoni for Target? I had to find out for myself so after all the commotion died down, I checked out the product line up at Target’s website. I’m am not much of a label freak, and I’m not too fond of loud prints let alone the zigzag but there was something that caught my eye and it was the Missoni ballet flats for kids. I looked at the adult version but I did not like the color scheme of fuchsia. However, the kid’s ballet flats was made with some of my favorite colors like muted mauve pink and brown so like a moth to a flame, I was drawn to it.

Missoni ballet flats

It looks too loud and eccentric unworn but with a pair of jeans, it doesn’t look too bad at all. Even my husband said something nice about it which is quite surprising to me.

It was sold out online but I paid a visit to a local Target store with the hopes that the limited stock indicator on the website meant that somehow, they still carried a few on location. I lucked out because there was only one pair left in the kid’s size 4 which is equivalent to a woman’s size 6 which I happen to be.  I tried it on and I fell in love with it. I know. It’s pretty unorthodox for me to even consider the shoes but it just looked really cute (in my opinion) with jeans. Anyway, I am glad I wasn’t born with big feet. I like the idea of being able to shop for shoes that fit my feet at the kid’s section with kid pricing. I know it sounds ridiculous but who doesn’t like saving?

Here’s me with the shoes on. Pardon the dirty and filthy mirror. Seth was squirting his water gun on the thing, plus Chloe made crayon swirls on it. I didn’t get the chance to clean it. I’m wearing a swing top which has a maternity cut so if I look pregnant and rather fat, blame it on the cut of the shirt… Hehe, really, I admit I have about 20 lbs to shed. :)

I suppose I can plan out an outfit that can be worn with this particular pair due to its eccentric design and I pretty much have an idea what I’d wear it with although I am planning on constructing a plain brown hooded swing dress to wear with it.
