A Taste Of Yakutia

Thursday

It snowed yesterday. However, it was not the type that blankets trees and twigs for days. The wind chill factor was lower than what is usual in this part of the country at this time.

Friday

The neighbors made this yesterday. Today’s wind chill factor was even lower than yesterday’s so it didn’t melt away.

Several juncos showed up in the backyard earlier. They showed up around breakfast.

We headed to the park to look for the ever elusive kinglet, but it was too cold even for most birds to be flying around. There were mostly Scrub jays around, but most of the smaller birds were nowhere to be found.

As bright and beautiful the day was, even with a hat fit for Yakutia weather, it was definitely not a good day to be out for a long period of time.

Speaking of Yakutia, things are not looking good when the America of today is operating more like the former USSR than the Russia of today.

Seek the Lord while he may be found;     call on him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake their ways     and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them,     and to our God, for he will freely pardon.

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts,     neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth,     so are my ways higher than your ways     and my thoughts than your thoughts. 10 As the rain and the snow     come down from heaven, and do not return to it     without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish,     so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, 11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth:     It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire     and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
