I awoke filled with indignation this morning mainly because of what I dreamt. In it was a scenario which showed me ordering something to eat at a fast food place. What’s odd was that I saw the burger being prepared right in front of me. Just as it was about to be wrapped up, the fast food worker spat on it.
It then showed me an obese lady expecting me to somehow not have a problem with what I had just witnessed implying I should just eat it. Disgusted, I retorted that if I ate knowing full well what was on it, if I got sick, the blame would be on me. I remember telling the lady she was fat because she ate anything and everything and that she was a ticking time bomb.
Then I woke up.
It sure sounds mean, doesn’t it – the statement I supposedly said in the dream towards the end, but the truth always stings.
When we eat just anything, we will eventually reap the consequence of our own actions (the obese lady is symbolic of James 5:5 – “You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves in the day of slaughter.”) is a ticking time bomb that in her condition, she could die at any moment. There is not a chance I would ever eat something willfully that I know was just being spat on, literally, and I would expect every sane person to do the same. Sadly, the nasty factor doesn’t manifest as much when it comes to our intaking of contaminated spiritual food. Since we don’t see the immediate manifestation and the spiritual implication of our actions, we don’t think about it.
