Against The Grain

Ordures… The French language is amazing, n’est-ce pas? It just has the knack of making the word garbage sound so cultured. What’s happening in our society right now is laden with les ordures. We all know we are living in unparalleled times where we can see our beloved America actively morphing into a Socialist paradise. Of course, what we are seeing now didn’t just happen overnight. It was decades in the making. The enemy is pretty patient, always waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike.

“If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.

Mark 3:24

Are you afraid of being cancelled? Frankly speaking, only those who are popular are going to suffer the devastating effects of Cancel Culture especially if their livelihood hinges on popularity. They’ll be forced to apologize for cultural sins – oh such irony! Those who are already in the low place of being unpopular will not suffer much, although the all encompassing effects of this movement will ultimately target our ability as Christians to be able to practice the Great Commission. It is pretty sad to witness. The fact is, you’re only cancelled when you allow them to.

Through observation, the fear of Cancel Culture is infecting Christians here in WP. Everybody huddles around the feel good teachings of Scripture, but when someone dares to speak the unadulterated truth no one wants to hear, everyone is nowhere to be found. If your Christianity is dictated by the fear of becoming a pariah, the battle is already lost. Jesus has a term for someone like this – lukewarm. No one likes to be rejected, but if you call yourself a Christian, you already knew rejection comes with the territory. Before you assert your Christianity, make sure to count the cost.

“You will be hated by everyone because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.

Matthew 10:22

And you, son of man, do not be afraid of them or their words. Do not be afraid, though briers and thorns are all around you and you live among scorpions. Do not be afraid of what they say or be terrified by them, though they are a rebellious people. 7 You must speak my words to them, whether they listen or fail to listen, for they are rebellious. 8 But you, son of man, listen to what I say to you. Do not rebel like that rebellious people; open your mouth and eat what I give you.”

Ezekiel 2:6-8

“Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.

Galatians 1:10
