Bachelor Buttons

We didn’t have to drive far afield
to search for a poppy field.
I envisioned a sea of red,
but came across a sea of blue instead!

We didn’t find one, but we did find a field of Cornflowers (Bachelor Buttons).

My backyard cornflowers are still weeks away from flowering so coming across a field of these was a treat.

Four poppy flowers for a family of four.

I was happy to find some traces of poppies in the field, so the quest wasn’t a total bust. Sometimes, our hearts are set on something, but the One who knows all things says, “I have something else for you.” What He gives is good (Matthew 7:11).

Let love and faithfulness never leave you;
    bind them around your neck,
    write them on the tablet of your heart.
Then you will win favor and a good name
    in the sight of God and man.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
    and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways submit to him,
    and he will make your paths straight.
