The Pearl Of Great Price
45 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, 46 who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it.”
Matthew 13:45-46
When someone gets to this point, a person is willing to give up everything including habits, erroneous beliefs (there are plenty of occasions where we believe we’re doing something right when in fact, it’s spiritual suicide), wrong priorities, spiritually toxic relationships or anything that we deem precious that get in the way of following Christ. It can sound fanatical but it isn’t; not the Hitler type anyway. Jesus has only two main commands in Matthew 22:37-40,
“‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.””
If loving your neighbor as yourself which happens to fulfill all moral commands from the 10 commandments is the mark of a fundamental extremist, if it means to the world my desire to follow Christ is detestable, then I rejoice at that label. I hope this post won’t be mistaken for an allegiance to some militant group. No weapons of mass destruction here. The only weapon I own is the Bible, mainly a weapon to destroy mass disinformation.
To the Christian detractors and liberal Christians, Fundamentalism is actually good when we follow a book that tells us to turn the right cheek when we are struck or if people don’t want to hear what we have to say, we simply walk away and move on (Mattthew 10:14). Of course we only expect to be heard as much as non-Christians since our constitution grants us that right. No beheadings or burning at the stake. Only the false Christians did that back then. Why stigmatize modern day Evangelicals for sins they did not commit? You’d plead for a little bit more grace, compassion and tolerance if it were the other way around, I’m sure.
Fundamentalism only gets dangerous when we follow a book that calls for the physical obliteration of anyone who decides not to walk around a black stone several times or if we are commanded to hold a pedophile in high regard as a prophet. Who in their right mind would want to exalt a man who sleeps with a 9-year old girl anyway? Isn’t that what we now call statutory rape? I’m not being blasphemous or insensitive. I am merely stating historically verifiable and documented facts.
I am talking to any professing Christian who happens to defend Islam, the religion that actually regards women as inferior to men, that mandates reverence to one who was clearly oppressive and misogynistic, the man whom I suspect has no peace wherever he’s at, Muhammad. Don’t take my word for it. Look this up yourself if you haven’t already.
Soon, the freedom you enjoy which was bought at a great price, which cost the lives of countless men and women in the military will be taken from under you through the alarming speed of massive culture infiltration that is happening in our world today. The uninformed, (I find myself thinking about the book 1984‘s slogan especially the part that says, “Ignorance is strength“) defend those who would not think twice in striking them as soon as they become the majority (look this one up too). It is the enemy’s tool to wipe Christianity off the face of the earth. If you’re honestly okay with that, I question if you truly understand the meaning of justice.
