City Scenes

Today happened to be a dark day. The sun was completely hidden, but in the short window of brightness, we saw a flock of pigeons foraging by the grocery store. These pigeons seem to be getting along just fine. Maybe none of them ruffle feathers?

By the time it was 2 in the afternoon, it looked like it was already 5 o’clock and then it rained and that’s why it’s good to save pictures for a rainy day.

This and the bokeh lights below were taken yesterday. It says “Minority Retort”… I’m curious whether the comedian will talk about racial issues or possibly a comedic spin on the creepy reality of the dystopian Minority Report that the world is currently being ushered into.

It is enjoyable to see the bokeh than the source of this string of lights. This was an intentional out of focus shot, unlike the one at the top which came out blurry. Sometimes, things seem better when a whole bunch of details are left out. In the Christian walk however, truth is a must. No one can work on fixing an issue unless one is being made aware of it. Being a truth teller can be a lonely road to travel (especially for those who are not used to being alone) and one’s motive can easily be misconstrued, but if we claim to be followers of the truth, staying true to the commitment is costly.

And whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple. 28 “Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it? 29 For if you lay the foundation and are not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule you, 30 saying, ‘This person began to build and wasn’t able to finish.’”

Luke 14:27-30

I can’t pass up the festive lights inside this place, plus it has a bird on it. Speaking of sparrows,

What I tell you in the dark, speak in the daylight; what is whispered in your ear, proclaim from the roofs. 28 Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. 29 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. 30 And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

Matthew 10:27-31

The city may be full of people, but not everybody who claims to be a friend is your friend, just as there are many who claim to be Christians. Some praise an apostate such as Rachel Held Evans who mocked God’s Word. Beware of these people and do not be deceived.
