Summer and fall is usually the time I take on projects. I decided to jump on painting after the book-binding project. I have not painted on canvas for over a decade and was surprised to find most of my oil paint over a decade old Daler-Rowney and Sennelier, were still usable. Dunno if the ones made in China could have lasted that long. I am beginning to sound like my mother when it comes to stuff made in China. For a few days, I was inhaling too much turpentine (from painting that is).

The sunflowers have bloomed
Lovely red hue on a late bloomer

My family will be going on a month-long international trip about three weeks from now God willing. This month is already coming to a close and has gone like a blur and there are so many things I’d like to talk about but I’ll save it for another time. I have been so busy I barely spent any time on the computer and yes, even on WP! I don’t own a Facebook, Twitter or Instagram account and yes, it is possible and (even better!) to live without these machinations that manipulate how people think.

Talking about social media and technology, it’s interesting that the adversary hides in plain sight when it comes to his agenda. I was listening to 80’s music with my son on Roku via youtube and was taken aback when I heard  Mr. Roboto, if you skip to minute 4:20, the guy sings,

The problem’s plain to see
too much technology
machines to save our lives
machines dehumanize

The album was released in the early 80’s when technology was far from being even mainstream yet! It’s also interesting that the Japanese are pioneering at worshiping a robot.

Anyway, this is just a quick post on what I’ve been up to. There’s nothing wrong about not being always online. We have been led to believe that life stops when you’re not “connected”. Au contraire. I’m not shy at sharing personal struggles in my faith walk which I have done on previous posts about consistency, distractions, materialism etc. If I disappear for days, I can assure you it’s not because I am burnt out. I live and breathe because God sustains me.

“For the LORD God is a sun and shield; The LORD will give grace and glory; No good thing will He withhold From those who walk uprightly.

Psalm 84:11
