Drawn Out Of Darkness

Now the Lord had said to Abram:
“Get out of your country,
From your family
And from your father’s house,
To a land that I will show you.

I will make you a great nation;
I will bless you
And make your name great;
And you shall be a blessing.

I will bless those who bless you,
And I will curse him who curses you;
And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

Genesis 12:1-3

God called Abraham to leave everything behind. God still does the same thing for people today. He will draw you to leave a lifestyle of sin, a destructive habit, a toxic relationship, a false religion, bad influences etc. You can fill in the details. Obey God. Though you may feel like you’re heading straight into a storm, if He called you out of something, you may think it’s the worst thing that could happen to you, but as long as you meet God at the center of His will, that is the best place to be. He promises to bless you when you obey.

“And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life.”

Matthew 19:29

Abraham was blessed for his obedience. In the same way, God draws out those who are to inherit salvation. He “isolates” them for a time so that the person whose heart is truly inclined to know and seek God will know Him without distractions. He does this to strengthen you so that in due time, He will also use you to draw others to Himself. My husband was drawn out from a family who was into the occult and I was drawn out from a family deeply into false religion. We were moved to a distant place, far from everyone we loved and everything we knew. For a time it was lonely, but God is with us.

Only He knows what blessing He has in store for you. It could be a deeper relationship with Him, deliverance from something, healing for a broken marriage, peace of mind, a spouse you have been praying for. In some cases, the blessing may not even come in this life (like Lazarus), but it will certainly carry on to eternity.

If you have truly given your life to Him, it will only be a matter of time that He will move you to your place of promise, if you let Him. Choose to let the Holy Spirit guide you today.

  1. Wow! I wrote these words a couple weeks ago….”A matter of time” Boy has it been tough, but God has been faithful and I know it’s getting ready to happen! Thanks Sis! ABSOLUTE CONFIRMATION!!

    1. Thanks Brother Anthony for sharing what the Lord is doing in your life! It is humbling and a blessing to know that He used this to talk to you today.

  2. The Lord also just reminded me of Moses’s name meaning to be “drawn out”

    1. Yes. As a matter of fact, Moses came to mind as I was writing and thought about how in due time, God asks you to go back to those whom you have left to minister to them.

  3. “But now I come to You, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have My joy fulfilled in themselves. 14 I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 15 I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world…..John 17:13-16
