Drumstick Allium

May 2021

The chives in this picture did not flower this year. It’s been around since 2017 and I’m missing the purple cheery blooms. A few happen to still be there and hopefully, it’s just a flowering delay.

However, another perennial bloomed this year from the same family–drumstick allium. They were there before, but didn’t bloom as much as the chives did.

Most of the seedlings have been devoured by unknown creatures. Out of the seven sunflower seedlings I sowed this year, only two remain. As usual, the weeds are left alone and the plant eaters always go for the sunflowers.

There may not be much of these, but nevertheless, it is good to see this perennial bloom when the chives decided not to.

“Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains. You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming is near.”

James 5:7-8 NIV
