Even When The Rain Comes

Salem’s Grand Theater, Downtown Salem OR

It’s rainy season. It’s dark and dreary, but it’s always expected here in the Northwest at this time of the year. My husband and I headed to the department store to pick up a few items and the lines were horrendously long. Not even C19, the ‘invisible enemy’ was going to stop everyone from doing business as usual, just like there are a lot of construction going on for new apartment buildings when most people are unemployed (Luke 17:28).

We pass through this mural all the time because of the drive-thru ATM. It never occurred to me to take a picture even though it’s iconic. I suppose today is the appointed day. It depicts pretty much days gone by with Charlie Chaplin, Theda Bara and Marlene Dietrich. Growing up, I wasn’t much of a TV/theater person. This pretty much explains why I took this long (been here 4 years already!) to take a picture of this. Most likely, everyone who visited Salem probably has this in their photo archive.

The weather is bad and the rain just doesn’t seem to stop with everything that’s been going on this entire year. God invites everyone toward His unfailing love and protection (Isaiah 41:10).

“But let all who take refuge in You be glad, Let them ever sing for joy; And may You shelter them, That those who love Your name may exult in You.

Psalm 5:11

“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

Romans 10:13 ISV
