Faith: Those Dark Days Come

An unadulterated word that describes faith happens to also start with the same letter, fragile. God desires that our faith goes beyond that to a strong faith. No one likes discomfort of any kind. I happen to suffer from motion discomfort when flying and being on a ship but such is life. My whole life has been about moving from place to place so I’m used to that kind of moving. We all have to cope with being moved and going to places we don’t want to go; I’m talking about a metaphorical place. No one likes to leave their comfort zone.

Broken snowglobe

Faith can shatter anytime. Remember when Jesus warned Peter that his faith was going to break momentarily which resulted in denial. Faith can also become so fragile when someone loses their livelihood by a fire or when a marriage is dissolving. We see chaos and destruction from natural causes and those caused by man’s fallen nature. It could happen all so suddenly like it happened to Job and it could certainly happen to any one of us.

Why does God allow these things to happen to a Christian?

“Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat. 32 But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”

Luke 22:31-32

Let’s try that again with your name on it.

,        , Satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat. But I have prayed for you,        , that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.

Did you make a resolve in your heart to live for Jesus and be active in the spiritual front line? You don’t have to be a missionary or be a pastor to go through something like this. It happens to every person who has decided to live the Christian life as it should be lived and doing so immediately makes you the adversary’s target.

“Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”

Ephesians 6:13-17

Be encouraged Christian. God is with you always.
