It’s Garden Time

Yesterday was pruning day. After the blanket of ice which split trees and pulled some by the roots just several weeks ago, I seriously didn’t think I would have anything left in the backyard. Having seen big trees toppled, it was surprising to see that the Chives survived.

This was taken at the height of the lockdown last year from the same plot as the chives in the first picture.

From the kitchen window, all I could see were the withered stalks of my Chrysanthemum plants. I didn’t worry too much about it though since just the year before, after I was done snipping, it looked almost completely stripped, but the plant has the reputation of being resilient.

Given time, these things would be lush and full of beautiful flowers by November. This happens to be the same exact plant as the one below.

What is God currently pruning out of your life?

It’s going to be painful, but like what happens to every plant in the garden, this is an inevitable and recurring process.

“For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe in him, but also to suffer for him

Philippians 1:29

Who in the world likes to suffer?

Not only that, Scripture also assures us of this,

“Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.

John 15:2

every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit – The dead branch will get burned, sadly. We already know their outcome. What you need to keep your focus on is your own walk with the Lord. For a believer, going through hard times is not indicative of punishment. God already tells us the outcome of the plant that is currently being pruned- they will bear more fruit.

The enemy will constantly bring his workers of iniquity to tempt, harass and try to detour you from doing God’s will for your life, but be patient and endure.
