Living In The Twilight Zone

My family headed to Milwaukie yesterday. It’s a small city located minutes away from Portland. I was taking pictures and minding my own business. I was nowhere near six feet from this woman who had a mask on and she got alarmed that in her estimation I was getting too close, she muttered, “Whatever happened to Social Distancing?”  Upon hearing this, I became indignant and said that people will start losing their minds when they live in so much fear. This happened at a public park in open space with fresh air.

As we were leaving, we saw the same woman who reminded us about Social Distancing standing next to her friend without practicing Social Distancing. Such clear and utter hypocrisy! It is hard to ignore things when they are happening around you, but this whole mask mandate and Social Distancing is a dehumanizing experience. Not only are people becoming one with their screens, the mask takes away people’s expressions as we go about our day to day errands. And another thing; it seems they have redefined morality. It is likened to a moral offense if you do not practice Social Distancing. It’s like living in the twilight zone. Only, this is our reality.

I have no doubt that God is working through all of this, perhaps to show people that morality apart from His righteous standard translates to nothing but oppression. There will be people out there who are bent on making you obey the mandates (as they exempt themselves from it) even when you are not stepping on their toes and as a Christian, your buttons will be pushed and triggered with the absurdity of this whole situation and especially when you line up the hype with the facts that clearly do not add up. More patience is required from all of us.

The Day Is Near

And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. 12 The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. 13 Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy. 14 Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh.
