Neither Silver Nor Gold

Temptation beckons. It is a constant battle for every believer. The spirit is willing but the body is weak (Matthew 26:41). We wake up to a new day, and yet we are drawing closer to the day of reckoning. This is not meant to be a scary post. This is actually a confession post. My weakness draws me to worthless things but in the back of my mind, I am constantly reminded that we are living in times where people are indeed eating and drinking, marrying and given in marriage, oblivious to the fact that everything could all change in the blink of an eye.

A fire opal reminds me of how this world is going to be destroyed- by fire (2 Peter 3:10). My mind has always been intrigued by the end times since I was a little girl. I was scared like any normal girl would, but looking back, I am convinced it was there for a reason. The experience can be likened to the effect of being injected with a vaccine where you are being exposed to something that is detrimental and for a time, it was a mental thorn. The fear factor vanished immediately after I had given my life to the Lord which worked almost like a desensitizing agent – I’m sensitive to it of course, but without being scared. All believers, except for the lukewarm ones, are excited knowing that the Lord is at the door of His return.

The end of days is an uncomfortable topic for most people, but it is important to remember that this tumultuous process has to occur (like demolishing a dilapidated building so a beautiful one can be built) so that a world free from pain and suffering as God had originally intended will emerge (Revelation 21:1-8). Everyone is invited to the new world, except to get there, you need to leave the sin that got this world so corrupted in the first place. What is written WILL come to pass. My hope is that this will serve as a spiritual wake up call to every believer. God knows ALL of our weaknesses and when we ask for forgiveness, we have the assurance of being able to start over to live out and accomplish the task He has assigned to each of us while we are still here.

Since you call on a Father who judges each person’s work impartially, live out your time as foreigners here in reverent fear. For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake. Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God.

Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for each other, love one another deeply, from the heart. For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God. For,

‘All people are like grass,
and all their glory is like the flowers of the field;
the grass withers and the flowers fall,
but the word of the Lord endures forever.’
And this is the word that was preached to you.”

1 Peter 1:17-25

    1. Thank you sis and good morning!

      1. Good morning, sis! Have a great day in The Lord!! 🙏🏻❤️

  2. amen! Every single believer, no matter where they are in their Christian walk, should hear and heed and fear the coming of the Lord. That’s the only thing that will set us on the right track!

    1. If the “fear” steers you towards the center of God’s will-to come to repentance, then it is the best place to be.
