On Death & Newness of Life

Righteous people are dying left and right from Dr. Ed Hindson to Dr. Zelenko, but for every believer in Jesus Christ, it is only a gateway to everlasting life.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”

John 3:16-17 NIV

Upon reporting on Dr. Zelenko’s passing, a conservative talk show host urged his viewers to pray that God would receive him into the kingdom. However, the Bible is clear about the only way to God’s kingdom; it is faith in Jesus Christ. Praying and interceding on behalf of the dead is not acceptable to God since Hebrews 9:27 states, “Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment,” my hope for Dr. Zelenko is that he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior on his last breath. There is no point for purgatory when all past, present and future sins have already been atoned for by Jesus Christ at the cross. The atonement takes effect the moment a person receives and acknowledges Jesus as their Savior.

“Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.”

John 5:24 NIV

“When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

John 8:12 NIV

“Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?” 29 Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.”

John 6:28-29 NIV

While there is time, believe in Jesus Christ.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”

2 Corinthians 5:17 NIV
