On This Day I Say, Let Love Have Its Way

hvday

I know I probably learned the history of Valentines day decades ago, but for some strange reason, my brain doesn’t think it’s important enough to retain it. Sure it’s wonderful to get cards designed with hearts and swirly whirly, flowers and better yet, chocolates!

My husband kisses my head before he goes to work several times, I get rewarded by doing his dirty laundry (lol). It’s really not as nasty as it sounds but moms, you know what I’m talking about. Everybody’s dirty laundry! Yay! I’m not complaining here, I promise. If that’s not love, I don’t know what is.

I too was single, only a decade ago. Never cared too much for the hoopla of Valentines day back in the days but I always did appreciate the motive behind it.

How about resolving to consistently uphold an atmosphere of Valentines day in our households and in all our dealings ’til our dying breath? I admit this proposition is quite utopic so I suppose celebrating all things love if even for a day will suffice.

Happy Valentines Day

“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

Romans 5:8

    1. Danke, meine schwester in Christo

  1. Caeli, you’re welcome! My Dad immigrated to the U.S. from Germany. If the family had stayed there, he may have served in Hitler’s army instead of fighting for the U.S. to defeat Nazism. Amazing. Are you studying German?

    1. Wow! Thanks for sharing. I tried learning it in the 90’s. I ended up with French instead. I love the fact that technology also has made it possible for anyone to learn anything (Duolingo, Google Translate), an indicator that we are indeed living in the last days (Daniel 12:4).

  2. C’est vrais, ma soeur! Ce sont les jours derniers. The nuns insisted that we have some French. Just bought Rosetta Stone French.

    1. C’est génial. Si c’est possible, je veux pratiquer a parler francais mais j’ai déjà oublié presque tout ce que j’ai appris.

I literally had to pull out my conjugaison book to craft this response and I wish Madame deJager was right next to me to correct it. Lol I’m not even sure if I conjugated properly. Thanks! I never thought this day would come 🙂

  3. This was fun! I think that Madame deJager would be pleased, Caeli.

  4. It was fun to learn more about you, sister, and know as you mentioned that we share an interest in languages, for good reasons. Lord bless you!!

    1. Thank you sis. Languages happen to be listed as a gifting from the Holy Spirit. I see you have the gift of being an encourager as well 🙂 It sure was something to know your dad escaped Nazi Germany. I saw an old footage of the Olympics held in Germany before Hitler unleashed his wrath and it looked quite peaceful. A mufti met with Hitler and wanted to ally with him on his antisemitic stance. It’s interesting how Germany right now is most welcoming towards Islam. http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/the-mufti-and-the-f-uuml-hrer

  5. Hi! Yes, language is a gift of the Spirit!
Nazism and Islam, an alliance founded on hatred of the Jews. I will read this article, Caeli. Did you watch the President’s joint news conference with Prime Minister Netanyahu? Was so grateful!

    1. Yes. The president was very direct and PM Netanyahu’s enthusiasm was very evident that he can finally be heard. I especially liked the part when he said, “Why are Jews called Jews? Because they come from Judea,” cementing their rightful ancestral claim to the land. If you know a person who claims to be Christian and has no concern for the Jewish people, they are either ignorant or they are not saved. The enemy thinks if he wipes Israel and the Jews, he can thwart the Second Coming. That’s what he’s been trying to do all along with Nazism, and now, Islam. Yes, the two are intensely correlated.
