As Christians, there’s one kind of rumor that we should find ourselves paying close attention to. I’m not talking about the soap opera kind but the one Jesus told us in advance in Matthew 24:6-8,

“You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 7 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of birth pains.”

It’s amazing to think about how our bible tells us of these events and we are living in such a time- tensions with North Korea, Russia and Iran. Not fearmongering here. I’m actually inspired to write this today after hearing my pastor talk about getting things in order and letting people know how you truly feel about them because we don’t know when winter comes. His sermon was prompted by his mother’s recent passing only a month ago.

With the recent FEMA drill conducted in NY/NJ area about a Nuclear attack, my mind seems to think the purpose of these exercises (other than preparing for the worst case scenario) is to give the bad guys the wrong idea on purpose. As bad as this sounds, I think dying instantly from a nuclear blast is a painless way to go unless you actually survive it and suffer radiation poisoning and die a slow death. Imagine just walking in the street and all of a sudden, you wake up in another realm, only it isn’t actually a dream. This realm is not just make believe but will be your eternal reality.

If something devastating like this happens, are you right and ready to meet God?
