Same Season, Different Climate

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.”

Matthew 6:19-20

“For no sooner has the sun risen with a burning heat than it withers the grass; its flower falls, and its beautiful appearance perishes. So the rich man also will fade away in his pursuits.”

James 1:11

“For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.”

1 Timothy 6:7

This was taken a year ago, just before they unleashed their ‘crown’ of thorns upon the whole world. The leaves were no different this year. At the same appointed season, they turned into beautiful colors which signified their eventual descent to the ground was nigh. I don’t know if it’s just me, but I thought the colors this year were much brighter than previous seasons. It probably has everything to do with appreciating things we often take for granted. Though we witness the same cycle, we know we are living in unprecedented times.

“The world is passing away, along with its desires; but whoever does the will of God remains forever.”

1 John 2:17
