Singled Out

“If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. 19 If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. 20 Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. 21 They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the one who sent me. 22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin. 23 Whoever hates me hates my Father as well.”

John 15:18-23

Whoever hates me hates my Father as wellThis gives clarity as to why followers of Jesus Christ cannot mix with those who worship idols, who do not know and worship the One True God. If you claim to be Christian and think that the interfaith movement is a godly goal, it’s not from Yahweh, but from the god of this world (2 Corinthians 4:4).

What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said:

“I will live with them
    and walk among them,
and I will be their God,
and they will be my people.”

17 Therefore,

“Come out from them
    and be separate,
says the Lord.
Touch no unclean thing,
    and I will receive you.”

18 And,

“I will be a Father to you,
and you will be my sons and daughters,
says the Lord Almighty.”

2 Corinthians 6:16-18

Jesus answered, I am the way and the truth and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through me.

John 14:6

“God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”

John 4:24
