Skewed Angle

As my family walked through a park in a Portland suburb, we passed by an interesting post with a very noble message that the whole world is desperately crying out for. They have it written in different languages vertically (I decided to only capture the message in English) to fit the square post. My native country’s language even made it there. I was appreciative, but it was quite disappointing at the same time since they completely had a typo on the most important word of the message, Peace. Leaving out one syllable made the word ‘peace’ non-existent altogether.

We’ve all seen people carry placards in protests that say “Peace and Love” and yet within the same crowd you will find a great degree of intolerance to opposing views that even extend to verbal and physical abuse. We know that those who do this cannot possibly give what they do not have.

If you are a Christian falling for the Ecumenical/Coexist Movement:

“For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober.”

1 Thessalonians 5:3-6

The coming “Peace” the world offers apart from Jesus is not true peace (Daniel 9:27). It is a false one since He is the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6). Unity happens at the cost of compromising your own convictions. Doing this means your name was never truly in the Lamb’s Book of Life (Revelation 13:7-8).

“Don’t become partners with those who do not believe. For what partnership is there between righteousness and lawlessness? Or what fellowship does light have with darkness?”

2 Corinthians 6:14

You can still share your faith to those who are willing to hear, and if not, shake the dust off your feet (Matthew 10:14) and move on. We were never commanded to bring bats and clubs to coerce someone into submission- where’s the choice in that? But the whole “We are all worshiping the same God” movement is a lie. Let John 14:6 sink into your God-breathed soul.

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

John 14:27
