The Famous ‘Christian’ Compromise

I was recently directed to an article which touted C.S. Lewis’ beliefs, hence this post. I now find myself ‘observing grief’ over his primary source ecumenical poison. The world and Christian academics are so enthralled by this man. Do you ever wonder why?

If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.”

John 15:19

In Jesus’ own words, if the world esteems you, that is because you still belong to it. Let’s face it. Who would not be impressed by a thinker with all the glowing credentials like C.S. Lewis?

While he is enumerating the painful realities of the church’s condition here, it IS scary indeed to attend a congregation where the clergy are not even sure of their faith. Sad to say, these are the kind of churches that are thriving right now, Progressive Christianity. What exactly is Progressive Christianity anyway? It’s none other than the antithetical Liberal Christianity that diminishes God’s righteousness by painting Him to be the loving God who condones the very thing He detests- SIN. Is this the kind of church you attend? If so, RUN!!!

Righteousness ceases to be righteousness when you take away the just punishment aspect of the whole equation. We can see this example right now where people perpetrate chaos and destruction all over the streets as they go their merry way without any penalty.

If C.S. Lewis’ assumption that a person can belong to Christ without detaching from their pagan religion is true, does this align with what the Word of God said here?

“Then I heard another voice from heaven say: “‘Come out of her, my people,’ so that you will not share in her sins, so that you will not receive any of her plagues.”

Revelation 18:4

And here,

No, but the sacrifices of pagans are offered to demons, not to God, and I do not want you to be participants with demons. 21 You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too; you cannot have a part in both the Lord’s table and the table of demons. 22 Are we trying to arouse the Lord’s jealousy? Are we stronger than he?

1 Corinthians 10:20-22

We know the reason why God forbade the Israelites from marrying pagans (Numbers 25:1-3). Those who hold to the truth simply cannot coexist with those who were seemingly moral but worshipped idols.

While God sees the heart of a pagan who truly seeks after Him like Cornelius (Acts 10) and the Ethiopian eunuch (Acts 8:26-40), we can see that He personally ensured that they walk in the truth by bringing genuine believers to them to guide them wherein they preached to them and afterwards, they got baptized into the faith.

If C.S. Lewis held to his written assumption until his last breath, it is purely contradictory to what the Bible teaches. It is sad to witness Christians quoting this man than Scripture as if it would make them sound more mature in the faith. This might fool some, but definitely not the Spirit-filled Bible-abiding Christian. Would you rather fill your mind with what C.S. Lewis thought about Christianity or would you not rather hear from the One who has infinite wisdom? C.S. Lewis’ sentiment aligns to the COEXIST propaganda which goes against John 14:6 and this is where Christians need to reassess on whether they should keep drinking from a contaminated well.

When I was new in the faith, I bought some of his books, but they are not something I would personally recommend to reinforce one’s faith in Christ. Only one book does that and that is none other than God’s Word.

See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.”

Colossians 2:8

  1. We left a church that mentioned him more then once.

    1. If God took you out from Catholicism, it’s good to steer clear from C.S. Lewis.
