The Meta Faces Of Fakebook

I’ve just heard the news about fakebook reinventing itself. Its new name is pretty telling of what its founder’s true ambition is.  Unplugging from that platform is a tremendous move to keeping one’s humanity. It is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. While being connected with people at one’s fingertips is convenient in every sense of the word, it has enabled voyeurs, thievery of data/content and all sorts of shameful abominations and all kinds of unrighteous deception to run rampant. Below is only one of the evils that they enable,

“Their tongues are deadly arrows; they speak deception. With his mouth a man speaks peace to his neighbor, but in his heart he sets a trap for him.”

Jeremiah 9:8

It is an undeniable enabler and indicator of the time we are living in as Genesis 6:5 puts it,

“that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time.”

People’s presence in a platform that is exploitative makes them subjects of the feed, one of misinformation and rife with their relative truth. Have you guys noticed that those who are often guilty of doing something are so intent on branding themselves the very antithesis of what they are? This platform that asserts to peddle facts is the very one which suppresses it.

Going back to ambition— humanity happens to be plagued with the tendency to always overstep the boundary of what is ethical, what fuels one to covet and achieve the status of soaring heights to fame and fortune? If you profess to be a practicing follower of Christ, the answer to this is instinctive (James 3:13-16).

As for Mr. Zuckerberg, his aspirations go beyond what is human. It exhibits a man who has bought the very lie that man can be like God—omniscient and omnipresent and with the looks of the control they have on the masses to this very day, omnipotent. He drags the whole of humanity with him in this pursuit.
