The Sun & HIStory

The only time I can stand tall is when The Light is behind me.

“The LORD is my light and my salvation–whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life–whom shall I dread?

Psalm 27:1

History, Principles & Prophecy

Yesterday’s events were already written in His story. He declares the end from the beginning (Isaiah 46:10). We see this encompassed in Scripture. We know the past to be history. What we are currently going through and what we will face in the future is prophecy being fulfilled and in order to be able to live through all the events that will happen in our lives, we need His guiding principles. We need His Word in the same way that none of all the inhabitants of the earth could survive without the sun.

The Word of God explicitly says that in the last days, some will depart from the faith (1 Timothy 4:1-2). We are also reminded that people will not put up with sound doctrine (2 Timothy 4:3). We are seeing this increasing by the day as a testimony to the veracity of this written oracle we have in our possession. It has been written two thousand years ago and it remains in the present tense, making it the active word (Isaiah 55:11, Hebrews 4:12).

Through many seasons, these trees couldn’t stand tall either without sunlight.

But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord,
whose confidence is in him.
8 They will be like a tree planted by the water
that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes;
its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought
and never fails to bear fruit.

Jeremiah 17:7-8

What would ever become of us if we don’t have the light?

“For the LORD God is a sun and a shield; the LORD gives grace and glory; He withholds no good thing from those who walk with integrity.

Psalm 84:11
