The Tale Of Two Squirrels

The humble “Who, me?” Squirrel

“But Moses said to God, ‘Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?'”

Exodus 3:11

The showy “Look at me!” Squirrel

“But the Lord said to Samuel, ‘Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.‘”

1 Samuel 16:7

“For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”

Matthew 23:12

The ways of the world involve pomp and fanfare. God’s ways demand just the opposite, “Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 6:1)

To God, motive and attitude is everything. It is what determines just reward that carries on to eternity. (Revelation 22:12)

“But He gives more grace. Therefore He says:
God resists the proud,
But gives grace to the humble.‘”

James 4:6
