Unflinching

This bird is unflinching. Almost a year ago, we spotted one that just kept on singing even when people were moving about.

Its red eyes make me call this the Zombie-looking bird. They’re not quite cannibalistic and there’s nothing threatening about this species, unlike the American Kestrel which happens to have big and round cute eyes but are predators.

“I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.”
52 Then the Jews began to argue sharply among themselves, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?”

53 Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. 54 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. 55 For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. 56 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them. 57 Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me.”

John 6:51-57 NIV

It is clear that Jesus was speaking figuratively to the Jews. However, the Jews thought Jesus meant literal cannibalism. He most certainly would be the last person to introduce the idea of killing someone to eat their flesh since God forbids murder and consuming blood as shown in the passages below,

And wherever you live, you must not eat the blood of any bird or animal. 27 Anyone who eats blood must be cut off from their people.’”

Leviticus 7:26-27 NIV

“’I will set my face against any Israelite or any foreigner residing among them who eats blood, and I will cut them off from the people.

Leviticus 17:10 NIV

John 6:53 | Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. –  mirrors the same sentiment seen in John 15:4-5,

Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

If the branch is severed from the vine, it makes for a lifeless branch.

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

John 14:6

“Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.”

John 14:23

We all intake and digest spiritual teachings. Eating the flesh of the Son of Man and drinking His blood is simply put as wholeheartedly taking in what Jesus taught and accepting Him as your Savior. This is the only way one’s sins are atoned for. His flesh and blood were symbolic of what was accomplished by His death on the cross.

These birds are nowhere near cannibalistic so don’t let the Zombie looking eyes fool you. They’re pretty friendly.
