Jesus & The People Pleasers

Every believer is familiar with Proverbs 27:17, “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”

Definitely easily swallowed but is it easily digestible?

There is a common trend within the professing believers in Christ and that is to avoid rocking the boat to keep the peace rather than debunking erroneous doctrines. Sure we can keep the peace but we shouldn’t avoid exposing faulty interpretations at the sight of a debate. There’s a bad debate and a healthy debate. Then there’s the type that is quite pointless. This is where discerning motives come in and we should certainly not balk at the opportunity of contending for the faith (Jude 1:3).

Jesus, the One you profess to follow called out erroneous practices of the Pharisees which went against God’s commands. So if your master does that, would it then be wrong to mirror Him in that manner? Of course we all know none of us is Jesus, but we have His Holy Spirit to embolden us that we may proclaim the saving truth entrusted to us regardless whether someone will press like on a post, comment, or even go to the extremes of pressing unfollow. It is time people ought to go back to the initial intention of sharing the meat of the gospel rather than resorting to posts full-proofed (I prefer this legal term over “foolproof”) and guaranteed to garner approval.

Can one truly effect change without stating cold hard truth? Some people say, “Well, I don’t have to say anything really, I’ll just let my actions speak.” Okay then, will your actions actually debunk a person’s belief in a Jesus whose character is not what is revealed to us in Scripture? We all believe Jesus, great. But do some people even believe in the right Jesus? It brings me to indignation when people say, “Let’s all just get along.” I believe in Jesus, you believe in Jesus, therefore, we are all the same. That’s fine. We can be firm in our faith but peaceable at the same time but that politically correct attitude is a robber of truth. In case you didn’t know,

• There’s the Jesus of the Catholics whose death on the cross was not enough to merit eternal life that it has to be accompanied with meritorious deeds.
• There’s the Jesus of the Mormons, whose brother happens to be Lucifer.
• Then there’s the Jesus of the Jehovah’s Witnesses whom they claim to be Michael the Archangel.
• There’s the Jesus of the Oneness Pentecostals who does not happen to be Triune at all times.
• There’s the Jesus of the New Age, who happens to plainly be an ascended master.
• There’s the Jesus of the Qur’an who happens to only be a prophet who didn’t die on the cross, wasn’t the Son of God, never resurrected, and lesser than the prophet Mohammad.
• There’s the Jesus of whatever false religion there is who claims to already be here.

These religions profess the name “Jesus” but their Jesus is far from being the same Jesus revealed in Scripture.

With all of what’s mentioned above, you still want to hold on to your assumption of “We are all believers?”

If your answer happens to be yes, the Jesus you believe is NOT the Jesus of the bible. The Jesus of the bible states,

“Do not assume that I have come to bring peace to the earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to turn ‘A man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law…”

Matthew 10:34-35

This declaration is clear that Jesus came to separate those who belong to Him from those who profess to believe in Him but are not truly His. After all, who can forget the passage in Scripture when Jesus actually tells those who called Him ‘Lord’ to depart from Him because they never knew Him? It was important for Jesus to have it written and documented in Scripture as to who exactly He is,

“But what about you?” Jesus asked. “Who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah! For this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by My Father in heaven.”

Matthew 16:15-17

Do you believe in the right Jesus?
