Our fallen tendency is to cast God aside when everything seems to be working out for us. But when the time comes when we are assaulted by all kinds of affliction, it becomes convenient for us to seek God. This is the kind of relationship that we all dread, a quasi-sycophantic type of relationship (from an earthly mindset) and yet, God in the flesh- Jesus Christ, knowing full well our tendencies, gives us the invitation in Matthew 11:28, “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.” It is something to think about that our coming to God especially at such a time after we’ve cast Him aside is likened unto humility.
His love transcends any definition and articulation we could ever come up with.
And then there’s Job.
“Though He slay me, I will hope in Him…”

Have you ever come to a point where you are going through something and echoed the very words of Job? He was afflicted to the point where even his own wife offered him no relief but an advice to literally abandon God (Job 2:9).

A time is coming and such a time is already here for some of our Christian brothers and sisters in regions of the world where their very lives are demanded from them simply because of their faith in Jesus Christ.
Will you find yourself saying, “Though He slay me, I will hope in Him“?
