Quiet Lamentation

When sorrow overtakes a person, oftentimes, the only thing that overflows from the heart are words of lamentation. Is a daily expression of such considered edifying especially when it is mingled with bitterness and regret?

“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.”

Ephesians 4:29 NIV

“The more you talk, the more likely you are to sin. If you are wise, you will keep quiet.”

Proverbs 10:19 GNT

Mid February pre Hysteria

I had developed swollen lymph nodes accompanied with a sore throat. I did not get it checked out since in the past, my swollen lymph node subsided on its own. It was not accompanied by any coughing or sneezing. My immune system had been shot due to lack of sleep. Could it have been Covid-19? I seriously don’t know. It’s been over a month and my swollen lymph node is back to its normal size.

My family went to Portland 2 days before the first case of Covid-19 appeared around the area. We enjoyed a walk by the river and we headed straight for the Chinese buffet for dinner. Normally, I’d post about the most trivial things but aside from having bouts of depression and my body fighting some kind of an unknown infection, I was also having computer problems. I have repeatedly factory restored my computer and to this day, it still has a persistent problem that it only works whenever it wants to. Today, I decided to use my old one. I’ve been slacking off WP for way too long now.

This was taken on 2/27 in Portland. It was emptier than usual, but the hysteria wasn’t as bad as the following weeks.

Early to Mid March Hysteria

My husband and I went hunting for toilet paper. We were among those who did not panic buy and for days, it was unbelievable how the pandemic drove people to stock up on dung wipes instead leaving every toilet paper aisle we’ve visited practically empty. It was interesting to witness something deemed life-threatening pushed people to the resolution that they must have toilet paper rather than flocking to the significance of spiritual cleansing. About two weeks later, as we were literally on our last roll of toilet paper, we prayed to the Lord that we would be able to buy even just a pack and the next day, the panic buying had somewhat died down that we finally bought some.

Worry and fear of death was not the cause of my inactivity amid the global pandemic. On the spiritual realm, I was battling a severe attack and should the Spirit prompt me, I might talk about it one day, but today is simply not the day. It was a persistent one determined to keep me down and out and seeing that our world is literally being changed with the lockdowns and the temporary church shutdowns, it appears I have gotten too dangerously comfortable in the slough of despondency.

If you have not yet accepted Jesus as your Savior, there is no better time than today.

“The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you;The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace.”

Numbers 6:24-26

  1. […] At the beginning of the year, I made a custom metal stamp as a note to self. Little did I know this was going to be the worst year of my life. Two days later, I was hit with discovery day, the worst day of a wife’s life. I never asked for this experience in my 13 years of marriage, but I was thrown right in the middle of it. The betrayal trauma was too hard to bear. I alluded to this on a post entitled Quiet Lamentation. […]
