Happening Here

As we drove by downtown Salem over the weekend, young’uns who choose to participate in the cause du jour started to chant words in favor of genocide. It is something else to witness that the one holding the megaphone in my estimation couldn’t be any older than 25 years old and even mindboggling to see some older folks in there too. They are not protesting for peace. They’d like to think they are, but sadly, that is the nature of deception. With the slew of protests happening in college campuses nationwide, it’s almost naïve to think that money is not involved and it truly appears to be coordinated. It is reminiscent of antics that “coincidentally” happen during an election year.

There’s no shortage of coverage when it comes to this movement. It’s simply a reminder to us as believers in Jesus Christ, aside from all the other signs to keep looking up and loosen our grip on this world. If you happen to hold membership in a church (I’m thinking specifically about the one which is the chief promoter of Ecumenism) where most people say, “I respect your beliefs,” it is akin to lying since each religion happens to hold an exclusive set of dogmas. Lying might be a strong word to describe it, but the other word—compromise—is not a better word to describe it either. To be more accurate, it’s really more like respecting that every person is created in God’s image. However, there are those who claim to love God and support beliefs and causes that favor an age-old hatred for God’s people.

It is most crucial for us to really take to heart Jesus’ admonition in John 16 in discerning that there will be people with intentions to kill and have the audacity to attribute it as doing God’s will,

“These things I have spoken to you, that you should not be made to stumble. 2 They will put you out of the synagogues; yes, the time is coming that whoever kills you will think that he offers God service. 3 And these things they will do to you because they have not known the Father nor Me. 4 But these things I have told you, that when the time comes, you may remember that I told you of them.

John 16:1-4b NKJV

It is alarming that this sentiment is prevalent even in institutions of higher learning as we are currently witnessing, with the aid of (un)Social Media to fan the flames where most false doctrine and toxic ideology abound. All of what’s happening is evidence of the prophetic nature and veracity of God’s Word as laid out in Romans 1 (v.22,v28-32).

Maranatha!

If you have not accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, today is the day.

And it shall come to pass
That whoever calls on the name of the Lord
Shall be saved.

Acts 2:21 NKJV
