Someone dear to me once said the Bible was written by mere men and therefore has a hard time believing it to be the Word of God. A half truth is exactly just that, half of the whole picture and if we were to take what one person says that the Bible is just like any other book, it would be a lie. God used men who were directed by the Holy Spirit (2 Peter 1:21, Matthew 10:19-20). People don’t seem to have a problem with books which happened to come about by automatic writing but when it comes to the Word of God and the fact that people can indeed be divinely inspired, it’s too unbelievable.
Some Christians even go as far as saying to put our faith in the Word of God equates to idolatry. When a professing Christian claims this, that person is in a momentary lapse of judgment because we cannot know about Jesus and what is pleasing to God unless we are made aware of it through the Scriptures. My affiliation to some Christian denomination before I had an encounter with Christ did not prevent me from bowing to and praying to idols and getting involved with the occult. I was oblivious about what God thought about these practices. I clung to the label of Christianity even when I did what was a direct contradiction to Scripture.
“We accept human testimony, but God’s testimony is greater because it is the testimony of God, which he has given about his Son. 10 Whoever believes in the Son of God accepts this testimony. Whoever does not believe God has made him out to be a liar, because they have not believed the testimony God has given about his Son. 11 And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.”
1 John 5:9-12
According to the passage above, anyone who does not accept the written testimony of Jesus Christ contained in Scripture whether they are conscious of it or not, is audaciously proclaiming that God’s testimony cannot be trusted. Picking and choosing which parts of the Bible to believe is being doubleminded. You either wholeheartedly believe in the testimony as a whole or you don’t. I personally believe this is one of those matters where if someone asked you a yes or no question whether you believe if the Bible is really God’s Word, any answer other than a yes is from the evil one and my reasoning is that since the whole world is “in the sway of the evil one,” (1 John 5:19) it is indicative that the Holy Spirit has not yet taken residence in your heart to convict you of this very important fact that without the Bible, we cannot know about Jesus Christ. We can maybe know the surface but like my own personal testimony, what little bit I knew of Jesus did not stop me from practicing what I did not know to be detestable to God.
If you accept human testimony, will you not accept the trustworthiness of what God revealed to humanity about Himself in Scripture?

Doubting the Bible is another way of saying, “a harden heart.” Through scripture, one’s heart is penetrated by the conviction of the Holy Spirit. A heart that softens can only be reached by Jesus.
That is a scary thought since it could well mean treading in the point of no return. God gives plenty of chances but even then, He also sees when the person has already made their mind up about something and that is when He says, “Have it your way.”
We always think we have all the time but for whatever reason only God knows, we may not even wake up to live another day…
Sometimes we forget how important it is to tell someone about Jesus especially when the Holy Spirit directs you to a specific person.
