Deepwood Before Sunset

We headed to Deepwood Estate just before sunset yesterday. It is home to a vast array of flowers…

…and birds. The days are getting shorter again and since it was getting dark, a couple of pictures are grainy because it wasn’t on ISO 100.

This robin was chilling under a humongous pine tree.

I just saw one of these this morning. This hummingbird does not have the “red necklace” as the one that visits my feeder.

Earlier today

I’m still wondering if the one that visits the feeder is the same one. This pose may be similar as the previous picture here, but today, you can partially see its retracting needle tongue.

Except for the watch that tells me what time it is right now, it feels like an extension of  yesterday’s sunset. The sun is hiding.

By the Deepwood parking lot was a Brown Creeper. It perfectly blends with the tree. Look at the bird’s claw feet! No wonder it goes about the tree ever so securely!

Lord, you alone are my portion and my cup;
    you make my lot secure.
The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places;
    surely I have a delightful inheritance.
I will praise the Lord, who counsels me;
    even at night my heart instructs me.
I keep my eyes always on the Lord.
    With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.

Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices;
    my body also will rest secure,
10 because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead,
    nor will you let your faithful one see decay.
11 You make known to me the path of life;
    you will fill me with joy in your presence,
    with eternal pleasures at your right hand.”

Psalm 16:5-11
