Earlier today as I was in the shower, the song from the early 90’s from En Vogue played in my head which I find kind of odd because I haven’t heard it in years for one thing and I don’t honestly remember the last time I heard it and two, I stopped listening to secular music awhile back… Another odd thing was it was accompanied by the repetition of the name Cybele which I know to be an ancient goddess and I kept thinking about it. Anyway back to the song it played,
“Free your mind
and the rest will follow
be colorblind
don’t be so shallow”
“Before you can read me
you’ve got to learn how to see me”
As I got out I went and looked up the lyrics to refresh my memory and it’s basically a song that speaks out about stereotyping and racism but aside from the obvious, I was getting the doublespeak. I’m going to linger and focus only on the stanza that played in my head because it literally just told me to toss absolute truth.
What is the implication when we toss absolute truth? The part that says, “be colorblind” … Removed from racial implications (I’m not racist) and sticking to literal colors, when you know something is red and you assert it is not red and it’s whatever color you see it apart from being red, it’s literally tossing away truth. What happens when we do that? We end up making our own truth which is not necessarily truthful when lined up to the standard, and by this, I mean spiritually lining everything up to Scripture since it is the ONLY reliable standard. People will have dissenting opinions which they are entitled to.
I don’t know if I am under some kind of psychic manipulation (sorry to sound New Agey) but what I mean by this is some kind of outside influence whispering notions in a realm we cannot see. I know as believers we go through this every day but right now, I am still wondering why I would actually be thinking that. I didn’t think that yesterday or the day before so it’s definitely external. Possibly the spirit behind that song is from that ancient goddess Cybele… Who knows? Now back to my original question, why would I get this today?
I’m certainly not on drugs. Imagine someone who is and definitely prone to go with the flow, hear things and receive the subliminal message wholeheartedly.
If somebody sees a connection between Cybele and the Free Your Mind song, I’d like to hear your thoughts on it.
