Light & Dark

“Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

20 Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven.”

Luke 10:19-20

This sketch was made just days after my conversion. If my main computer had not acted up recently, I would not have stumbled upon this. It was stored in my old backup computer from 2012 and I totally forgot about it.

“Strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I say to you, will seek to enter and will not be able.”

Luke 13:24

On following The Light

“This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.

John 3:19

As we follow Jesus, anything that comes in contact with the Light, the deeds of darkness become exposed.

“No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. 17 For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open.

Luke 8:16-17

The evident fruit of a follower of Christ is this,

“And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.

Ephesians 5:11

Any person who dispels lies, Satan’s native tongue (John 8:44-45), with the truth is doing God’s will. Exposing evil by promoting truth is the most Christ-like thing one can do (Matthew 23:13-36).

On the world’s hatred

“If the world hates you, you know that it has hated Me before it hated you.”

John 15:18

“Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also.”

John 15:20

“For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.

John 3:20

“But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.”

John 3:21

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

John 14:6
