Sunflower Seeds

“This is the meaning of the parable:
The seed is the word of God.”

Luke 8:11 NIV

If the seed is the Word of God, any Christian who claims that “the Bible is not the foundation of our faith” utters a direct contradiction to what Jesus said. If you heard your pastor say that, run!

“Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and every expression of evil, and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save your souls.”

James 1:21 BSB

“For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.”

Galatians 6:8

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.”

Galatians 5:22-23

Hate, misery, chaos, impatience, rudeness, depravity, disloyal, harsh, self-indulgence.

Everything mentioned in the list above, the opposite of the fruit of the Spirit is something all humans hate but this is our default. We do not work hard to hate, to be rude or be impatient with people. Working on every single thing by ourselves is guaranteed to be a losing battle.

I do not know of any plant that matures overnight. Since Jesus uses a fruit tree (Luke 13:6-9) as a metaphor for humans, He is using a clear illustration that it takes a lifetime (years upon years, season upon seasons) for some fruit of the Holy Spirit to be evident in the life of a believer. Knowing this, we have hope in God’s enduring patience, but He ultimately knows whether or not a person will cooperate with His sanctifying/pruning process.

Do not neglect your Bible. A verse, a chapter, or however much you read, be deliberate in sowing the seed into your heart. It is so powerful that even just one seed can lead to the path of eternity.

“He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”

John 3:36

I like what you said about the Word of God being powerful because many “fake Christians” are trying to distance themselves from the Scripture, due to the world not liking what it says about today’s culture. So, they want to reach the culture without the Bible, which by the way, is the only thing God uses to bring someone to a saving faith. That tells you that they are bringing more fake Christians into the church, thinking they are saved but are as lost as his next door atheist.

  2. The word of God is Powerful which is in the Bible. To me it is a medicine if one has full trust and faith in it. This is a testimony.
