That Nagging Void

To the one who is confused about God and the nature of God, here’s something you should know about Him.

“God is not human, that he should lie,
not a human being, that he should change his mind.
Does he speak and then not act?
Does he promise and not fulfill?”

Numbers 23:19

You may have grown up in a different generation and are jolted by everything that is happening in the world today, as you witness the sudden shift of everything you know to be completely turned upside down. That desire to suddenly find out more about God is His way of inviting you to truly seek Him (John 6:44, John 6:37).

His promise to the sincere seeker is as follows,

“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”

Jeremiah 29:13

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.“

John 3:16

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

Matthew 11:28

If you truly want answers, take Him up on that offer.

Before you rule out that Christianity is not for you (you may be contemplating you’re done with it if your case is because you grew up in a cult-like pseudo-Christian environment or scarred by the deeds of “imperfect & judgmental” people- you’re certainly not exempt from this unless you’re God), what makes you so sure about it? Will your surety hold up to time? And by time, will your belief (whatever it may be) hold up to unrelenting assault from every direction?

And that void, you can patch it however you want, but it will always be there. For a time, your palliative of choice may suffice, until the void eats at you again.

And Yes, God truly does exist. Take a cue from those who labor so hard to fight against a being whom they consider to be a delusion. No one would bother to vehemently attack someone who does not exist. Would you?
