The Green Shadow

In a previous post, I mentioned that only the light can draw out beautiful colors from what is meant to be dark. We go through so many things that weigh us down and attempt to suck the life and joy of the Lord out of us – strip the colors and make everything gray.

The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
Forever.

Psalm 23

In Christ, the dark moments can be colorful. It may not feel that way as you are going through it, but it doesn’t take away the fact that it is producing something beautiful in you (James 1:2-8). Sometimes we forget the power that dwells within us, the Helper – the One who comforts (John 14:16, 2 Corinthians 1:4), but first, we must seek to yield our will so that we can hear Him clearly. The further we step out of God’s will, good reception eludes us and all we get is a distorted staticky message.

He is Light (John 8:12) and being that the Holy Spirit is in you, the power of darkness will not prevail for it is written,

“You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

1 John 4:4
