The “Silencer” Verses

“Judge not, that you be not judged. 2 For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. 3 Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?”

Matthew 7:1-3

Apart from John 3:16, I believe Matthew 7:1 is one of the most quoted verse of all time and often quoted even by those who don’t consider the Bible to be authoritative. Isn’t that interesting? It has been misquoted and misapplied so much that I believe the stigma implicated on the receiving end generates fear among people to call out evil for what it is. Another similar verse that is commonly used as the silencer is John 8:7, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone (at her).”

And yet, people who heed the “moral” outrage coming from Hollywood seem to forget that the place is the leading purveyor of wickedness in this world such as idolatry, lust/fornication, adultery, gun violence and the list goes on and on. It is interesting that a supposed quote from the recently outed and disgraced Hollywood executive surfaced where he asserts that Hollywood “has the best moral compass.”

I truly believe he meant what he said but one has to read into the doublespeak. Based on what Hollywood spews out, the general consensus is NOT having any moral compass is best.

The only true moral compass is the Word of God.

Lastly, Hollywood prides itself in convincing the masses what it sells onscreen. They have gotten so good at that even the actors try to make people believe they are to be our examples. If that were so, May God have mercy on us all.

Yes, that is so true because what you said is spoken in their closet to one another.
