Verizon Wireless: A Boon For Identity Thieves

idt

My husband was just recently victimized of Identity theft all thanks to Verizon Wireless’ love for the almighty mammon. Apparently, this company is not too strict in verifying someone’s real identity when signing up for their service since the fraud decided to use my husband’s SS number along with his own last name which doesn’t actually match. We found this out from the collection agency.

All day yesterday, we travailed to have the issue rectified since the fraud made my husband’s credit score dip close to 70 points. That is some serious stuff especially since that could tremendously impact our familial pursuits (moving, renting, getting a mortgage etc.) and mislead prospective lenders that my husband is irresponsible. When he first learned that someone wanted to assume his identity back in March, it was merely an inquiry and didn’t indicate anything in his report that an account was indeed opened but it sure was a rude awakening the other day as he discovered it to be a full blown collection amounting close to a whopping 5K. He regularly checks his report but this is truly bad news for us when we are looking at possibly relocating.

Imagine how many people are affected by something like this because of Verizon’s lack of proper identity verification. People should boycott companies like this. It seems they don’t care at all whether a person’s name matches with the social, a real failure on their part. Approve them anyway as long as they can charge which is pretty bad, but they will end up losing the money they so wanted to make especially when they cancel out the tab ran up by the fraud. Talk about pursuing money so much it just ends up literally void.

You see what dependency on being wired does to people? They resort to screwing other people’s lives just to stay connected. It’s truly sickening. I’m sure the fraud probably slept well while he robbed my husband of his identity which cost his peace of mind, lose sleep and taking a day off at work to fix something he had nothing to do with, but vengeance is the Lord’s.

Incidents like this should impel Christians to tell the world all the more about Jesus. Only He can truly convict a person. While the Pharisees and a mob of people wanted to stone an adulteress, all Jesus did was say one statement and one by one, they walked away convicted of the truth that they were no better than she was. When truth penetrates, it catalyzes a change of heart. Hopefully the fraud will come to his senses and stop doing this to people.

I don’t condemn the man who stole my husband’s identity and potentially my family’s future, but I do hope he finds Jesus Christ because if he doesn’t, who knows what he will reap in this life. We certainly know where thieves go especially if they don’t find The Way to get their sins forgiven.

Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who submit to nor perform homosexual acts, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor verbal abusers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God.

  1. Sorry for this trouble, Caeli! glad you look for lessons and pray about these things! Hope it’s all resolved soon!

    1. Thank you Maria. He sent in the Police report from his ID theft complaint and with several failed attempts to submit it online, dunno if it was the enemy testing his patience lol but it went through and he got a response within the hour that it would be removed. He is awaiting for the changes to take effect hopefully within this month. God is so full of mercy.

      1. yes, Caeli, always!
        That’s great.
