“When an impure spirit comes out of a person, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left.’”

“When it arrives, it finds the house swept clean and put in order.”

“Then it goes and takes seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that person is worse than the first.”

Luke 11:24-26 NIV

“A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path; it was trampled on, and the birds ate it up...

“This is the meaning of the parable: The seed is the word of God. 12 Those along the path are the ones who hear, and then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved.”

Luke 8:5, 11-12 NIV

There is such a thing as the point of no return. 2 Peter 2:20 states,

If they have escaped the corruption of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and are again entangled in it and are overcome, they are worse off at the end than they were at the beginning.

This verse is not just applicable to false teachers, but also to those who are captive to the false teaching. Those who do not hold to the truth will eventually apostatize. There is a condition to the security of a believer and that is holding on to the truth, Jesus.

“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through me.”

John 14:6 NIV

“The LORD is near to all who call on him,
to all who call on him in truth.”

Psalm 145:18 NIV
