There is a surge of post-Apocalyptic movies out on Netflix and of course, predictably rife with subliminal messaging. This is a new release so I’m not going to bother with a quick synopsis, but only show you the clear anti-Christian message embedded, although I must say with Romans 8:28, what’s meant to be a mockery can actually be turned for good. There were parts in the movie which reflected a truthful message especially the one shown on the church marquee and also when the daughter was on her tablet where it said, “REPENT” and “PRAY.”
What’s predictable
Hollywood always, and I mean ALWAYS portrays Christians as psychos and nutjobs. One that comes to mind in particular was the character of Marcia Gay Harden in The Mist, which interestingly also happens to have flying creatures plaguing humanity like this one. This is to be expected though and here’s why.
The World Hates the Disciples
“If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. 19 If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. 20 Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also.“

On Fake News
Lies and propaganda abound not just in real life, but especially in movies. Whom the world claims are anti-Science religious extremists have become the deliberate breeders of Vesps! I find this quite funny. The headline to the left says, “Extremists calling Vesps “Harbingers of the Apocalypse” and the one to the right says, “Religious extremists ushering in apocalypse; breeding Vesps.” Clearly, this picture portrays the Atheist as a victim, with a caption quote from a preacher which says, “We are the plague, Vesps are the cure.”
The Weird Reverend
The message says, “And From the Lord comes Deliverance!” This happens to be true.
“For ‘everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.'”

The daughter says to her dad in sign language not to bother with the guy because “He’s weird.” For which the dad nods in agreement, and with a scornful look, motions with his hand that what he’s offering is not for him and his family as they walk away from the reverend.
What’s interesting about the reverend and his flock (which he referred to as the Hushed) is the fact that their tongues had been cut off. This is symbolic of censorship, of NOT being able to have the freedom to express their religious views. They can scream all they want, but they won’t be heard since their tongues were cut off. Not only that, they made the reverend to be a pervert, only thinking about the daughter to be ‘fertile,’ so the reverend and his followers sought to kidnap the daughter at night. This scene portrays Christians to have no respect for free will at all.
And to seal the anti-Christian deal, the ending was touching on the evolution of species. How convenient.

I thought I was going to make it through a Netflix movie without them bashing Christians… Boy was I wrong. There is only one point to this entire movie… Christians are willing to set world on fire to hasten the end of days. As a Christian myself, I can’t blame NETFLIX for their views. It’s all about a false doctrine and bad eschatology around prophecy. Most evangelical Christians believe the world has toreach such a terrible point, Christ will return. Which is wrong… End of days prophecy was fulfilled thousands of years ago in 70 AD when Jerusalem was destroyed. Even though it sickens me to see how Christians are potrayed and in this case stopped watching the movie… I don’t blame society for there views on Christianity.

Pardon my bluntless, but this is a true misunderstanding here. Absolutely NO ONE can “hasten the end of days.” A true Christian looks forward to Revelation 21:4, “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
If you don’t like what’s happening with the world, what is so bad about looking forward to a life without suffering? After all, isn’t suffering the main cause that people reject God? Now that He offers redemption from that suffering, people still are not happy. It’s a NO-WIN situation. The creation demands appeasement from the Creator and this is hubris.

How do you reconcile the parts in Scripture that are yet to be fulfilled? God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow and for you to hold to the Preterist view completely discounts the fulfillment of prophecy regarding the reestablishment of Israel and the soon to be rebuilt Third temple. If it is true as you say, can you give me a reference in history where ALL the inhabitants of the world were forced to take a mark on their right hand or forehead in order to be able to conduct business? I don’t think you can because it is non-existent.
