So I just dabbled into uncharted territory with my attempt at upholstery. To reclaim wasted space, I decided to discharge 3 ornate barstools via Craigslist and looked to replace it with 2 contemporary ones to match our furniture scheme. It happened to sell within 24 hours of listing and decided to use the proceeds towards the replacement. It took close to a week to find the perfect deal but yes, it was within budget from the barstool sale which afforded me to buy both the upholstery fabric (espresso microsuede) and the stapler, accompanied with extreme couponing at Hobby Lobby (Thank God for their generous 40% off). Just before I hit the Buy Now button on my desired replacement, I decided to check Craigslist and lo and behold, I found the listing with the key words “espresso” and “29 inch”. It wasn’t the best looking pair of barstools when we first got it. It had a chipped corner on one of the stools and some discoloration on the wood finish and a rip on the seat fabric which necessitated reupholstering but with a little tlc (sanding the chipped corner, coloring the minor nicks, reupholstery) it looks quite alright. Of course it is not the Parson barstools I was originally intending to buy but it serves the purpose.
I can attribute the transformation of the old blemished barstools to people finding refuge in God’s grace. As we become born again by accepting Jesus Christ as our Savior, we become anew. We become clothed in Christ’s righteousness as His righteousness is imputed in us.
Isaiah 1:18 states,
“Come now, let us settle the matter,” says the LORD. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.”
There’s really a longer story to my ending up with this pair and I would have to say it has something to do with an answered prayer, the exactitude of my specifications, just on point. All I can say is… even to the most trivial and minute details, God cares…
