How do we navigate a world where sound doctrine no longer matters to most?

“I will betroth you to Me forever;
Yes, I will betroth you to Me
In righteousness and justice,
In lovingkindness and mercy;
20 I will betroth you to Me in faithfulness,
And you shall know the Lord.

Hosea 2:19-20 NKJV

Verse 20 is a sure declaration that those whom God has chosen before the foundation of the world will know him (Ephesians 1:4).

How can we decipher who truly knows God?

Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, “Lord, how is it that You will manifest Yourself to us, and not to the world?”

23 Jesus answered and said to him, If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. 24 He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father’s who sent Me.

John 14:22-24 NKJV

If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. – There is no going around this — “he will keep My word.”

Those who reject the authority of Scripture is disqualified in making a claim to Christianity. The verse succeeding this is also clear that those who toss sound doctrine although professing to belong to Christ are not truly His.

“It is written in the prophets, ‘And they shall all be taught by God.’ Therefore everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to Me.”

John 6:45 NKJV

“Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.”

Ephesians 5:6 NKJV

“For certain men have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness and deny the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Jude 4 NKJV
