My family’s upcoming trip is right around the corner and I wanted to get a head start on packing. Having done so, a laundry mishap occurred. There was a black dye transfer on my daughter’s pink dress so I had to treat the stubborn stain. She only wore it once so I tried hard to remove the stain. I used Carbona color run remover and it lightened the black dye transfer into a faint gray but it’s not completely gone. Don’t you just hate stains?
Having worked on treating the stain on the garment, it became an illustration on the stain of sin that no amount of good works can ever erase. We try fixing it with all our might and for a time, it might seem like it’s working but at our weakest point in life, the stubborn sin only lingers to trip us up. Only Jesus’ cleansing atonement could permanently remove the stain of sin without damage incurred from our own futile efforts. Works-based salvation only distances us from God’s grace since when we think we can be acceptable to God on the basis of our good works, we nullify Jesus’ finished work on the cross, simultaneously rejecting grace freely extended to us (1 John 2:1-2, Ephesians 2:8-9).
Jesus is the bridge and the only way to the Father.

Apart from Jesus, people will have an inverted view of reality where right is wrong and wrong is right (even the word felon is now censored) as evidenced in our morally depraved society where rampant mass murders are becoming more common. It did not used to be like this when I was growing up.
Darkness is here and the LORD is our only refuge (Psalm 46:1).
