Effervescence

For a moment, we are in awe of the bubbles until they burst at the top

When a bottle of seltzer is opened, we see the bubbles racing to the top in the heat of the moment. Like the bubbles, everything we gain in this world whether by just or unjust means can easily be lost in an instant through no fault of our own (like Job) or through the evil intent that lurks in the human heart.

“For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, acts of adultery, other immoral sexual acts, thefts, false testimonies, and slanderous statements.”

Matthew 15:19

“But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them—bringing swift destruction on themselves. 2 Many will follow their depraved conduct and will bring the way of truth into disrepute. 3 In their greed these teachers will exploit you with fabricated stories. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping.”

2 Peter 2:1-3

The worst kind of deceivers are those whom you least expect, the ones in the church who devise stories to make people believe outrageous things. If you have watched Sid Roth’s program, beware. It is mindboggling to see thousands of people flock to hear fabricated stories of miraculous encounters. For those who continue to flock to these false teachers, they are already in judgment and my hope is that they have not yet reached the point of being given over. God is good that even when He knows some will not heed, He still sends people to warn. At the day of judgment, people will have no excuse. They will perish because they refuse to love the truth (2 Thessalonians 2:10). If they cannot discern deception at this hour, when the great deception comes, they will embrace it.

Why would people go at such length to deceive people? There is only one motivation that competes with God, mammon (Matthew 6:24). For a time, we see an outward appearance of success that is coveted by those belonging to the world, until the appointed day of destruction comes.

“The plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty, But those of everyone who is hasty, surely to poverty. Getting treasures by a lying tongue Is the fleeting fantasy of those who seek death.”

Proverbs 21:5-6

Do not be deceived.
