Faith & Cookies

Believers are supposed to share their faith like we share cookies. We are given a mandate by Jesus Christ to go unto all the world and make disciples.

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen.”

Matthew 28:19-20 NKJV

Contrary to a common Catholic belief, this mandate is not reserved only for missionaries. Let’s look at how Jesus prayed also for future believers,

“I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word;”

John 17:20 NKJV

but also for those who will believe in Me through their word – People come to a saving faith in Jesus Christ so that the gospel may be preached to all.

How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written:

“How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace,
Who bring glad tidings of good things!”

Romans 10:14-15 NKJV

It cannot be stressed enough that knowing about Jesus Christ from being born into a family who claims to be Christian (Catholicism, Mormonism etc.) or just watching “The Chosen”, and, actually acknowledging Him as your Lord and Savior are two completely different things. The former is a surface knowledge not necessarily having commitment, while the latter is an abiding relationship,

To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.

John 8:31-32 NIV

Holding to Jesus’ teaching means choosing not to compromise the truth for feelings and opinions.

Everyone who has been truly born anew (John 3:5-7, 2 Corinthians 5:17) will have the desire to share the good news.

Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me everything I ever did.” 40 So when the Samaritans came to him, they urged him to stay with them, and he stayed two days. 41 And because of his words many more became believers.

42 They said to the woman, “We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world.”

John 4:39-42 NIV

now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world – You may have heard this a million times already, or not, but the Bible is God’s testimony of Himself. Read it and live it.

I’d like to share this very simple recipe with you. I hope you give it a try.
