Nobody Wants To Burn

This grass is quite pleasant to look at. It almost reminds me of wheat. If grass could talk, I can imagine them begging not to be cut off.

Having recently heard of a misguided claim that this republic is supposed to be the “New Jerusalem,” (problematic assertion since Jerusalem will never be replaced) it would mean that the woes attached to the real Jerusalem and how God has dealt with an unfaithful people in the past will also apply to a country that prides itself in being known as a nation “under” God. This was the nation that the despots of the world came to loathe and those who dream of living in this promised land of opportunity have come to love. Sadly, this country has become a shell of what it once was.

“Hear and give ear:
Do not be proud,
For the LORD has spoken.
16 Give glory to the LORD your God
Before He causes darkness,
And before your feet stumble
On the dark mountains,
And while you are looking for light,
He turns it into the shadow of death
And makes it dense darkness.
17 But if you will not hear it,
My soul will weep in secret for your pride;
My eyes will weep bitterly
And run down with tears,
Because the LORD’s flock has
been taken captive.”

Jeremiah 13:15-17 NKJV

I have seen the wicked in great power,
And spreading himself like
a native tree.
36 Yet he passed away and
behold, he was no more;
Indeed I sought him, but he
could not be found.

37 Mark the blameless man, and
observe the upright;
For the future of that man is peace.
38 But the transgressors shall be destroyed together;
The future of the wicked shall be cut off.
39 But the salvation of the righteous
is from the LORD;
He is their strength in the time of trouble.
40 And the LORD shall help them
and deliver them;
He shall deliver them from the wicked,
And save them,
Because they trust in Him.”

Psalm 37:35-40 NKJV

The promise of salvation only belongs to the righteous.

Son of man, when a land sins against Me by persistent unfaithfulness, I will stretch out My hand against it; I will cut off its supply of bread, send famine on it, and cut off man and beast from it. 14 Even if these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job were in it, they would deliver only themselves by their righteousness,” says the Lord GOD.

Ezekiel 14:13-14 NKJV

Even if these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job were in it, they would deliver only themselves by their righteousness – Each person is accountable for their own choice– to seek or reject salvation. Righteousness can only be attributed to someone who genuinely chooses to accept Jesus Christ (John 14:6, John 12:48, 1 John 2:23),

“Blessed is he whose transgression
is forgiven,
Whose sin is covered.
2 Blessed is the man to whom the
LORD does not impute iniquity,
And in whose spirit there is no deceit.”

Psalm 32:1-2 NKJV

Choosing to walk away from a life of deceit (1 John 4:1, 2 Peter 2:18-19) guarantees a life of peace (Psalm 37:37, John 16:33). As for the wicked? They are destined to be cut off (Psalm 37:38).
