The Sweet Life

Life is not always sweet, but in the case of strawberries, when ripe, it’s always sweet. My family went strawberry picking today. I was the spotter and my husband and kids picked them. Good thing only the three of them picked it since we would have gotten close to 10 lbs if I joined! That’s definitely more than what we went there for.

The strawberry field is full of ripe fruit waiting to be picked.

However, like all plants, even when given the same care, they all mature at their appointed time.

This needs just a little bit more time.

“The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.”

2 Peter 3:9

“Then He said to His disciples, ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.‘”

Matthew 9:37

The strawberries are hidden underneath the leaves. It’s like going treasure-hunting for ripe ones. It got all the way to 97 degrees today and it is definitely much hotter than it normally is at this time of year. Three years ago when my brother visited in June, it was still sweater weather.

The whole world may seem to be full of preachers and televangelists, but how many are truly doing it with the right motives and not just making a name for themselves and enriching themselves through the gospel (1 Timothy 6:3-5)? Let us make sure we will not hear, “Depart from me” (Matthew 7:22-23) from our Lord and Savior.

“So if anyone cleanses himself of what is unfit, he will be a vessel for honor: sanctified, useful to the Master, and prepared for every good work. Flee from youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, together with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.”

2 Timothy 2:21-22
