The Lord your God will cut off before you the nations you are about to invade and dispossess. But when you have driven them out and settled in their land, 30 and after they have been destroyed before you, be careful not to be ensnared by inquiring about their gods, saying, “How do these nations serve their gods? We will do the same.” 31 You must not worship the Lord your God in their way, because in worshiping their gods, they do all kinds of detestable things the Lord hates. They even burn their sons and daughters in the fire as sacrifices to their gods.”

Deuteronomy 12:29-31 NIV

No one can deny the noble appearance of the Ecumenical Movement. However, good intentions do not trump absolute truth. The gods the pagans worship will never be the One true God. He does not ask to burn/sacrifice our sons and daughters. This can be done in various ways in our time via rituals, abortion and training suicide bombers. When someone brings the assertion that the Judeo-Christian God required Abraham to sacrifice Isaac, it would be completely null. The literal burning of Isaac did not actually happen. Apart from the fact that it was a foreshadowing of Jesus’ sacrificial atonement, it would be good to remember that the request was merely a gauge of Abraham’s obedience.

“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

 John 14:6 NIV
